I think the nice Mods deserve a candygram ... just wonder what their favorite is.
I've seen a few reports throughout the day stating that the Superdome is 25 feet above sea level.
I think it will hit just east of NOLA. But not by much relative to the size of the storm.
God Bless Spiff.
To: PhiKapMom Hand dipped chocolate covered pretzels, though a wee bit more fussy to make, aren't hard. In a double boiler ( or a small put put over a larger pot that has slowly boiling water in it, melt 16 ounces of cooking/baking chocolate and a 1/2 a stick of unsalted butter, turn flame down to low, use a large toothpick or a BBQ skewer through a three ring pretzel and dip into chocolate, raise and let drip a bit. Place coated pretzel on wax paper covered cookie sheet. When the sheet is full, place in the ice-box for about 1/2 an hour. Then peel the pretzels off the paper and store in a container. 703 posted on 08/28/2005 11:24:27 PM CDT by nopardons
I used to make that when I was a college student. I didn't have a broiler but I had a toaster. I'd lay my toaster on it's side and slide the bread in with all the goodies on top. Worked perfectly and I didn't even burn down the apartment building.
Now, back to hurrican Katrina before someone burns my....ummm, toast. LOL
The Salvation Army is one of my favorite donations; I'm so glad to read your post that they're ready to pitch in.
that cam is live, yes
Keeping you in our prayers--glad you are with us tonight. What is your favorite hurricane food?
You'd hate jello even worse if they forced the cherry flavored on you combined with floating celery, carrot, onion and pecan halves in it. You can't even pick the stuff out!
We may be giggling occassionally - but I venture to say all of us are also praying even more.
Other than my FReepr cyber FRiends I know no one in the path - but others were around when I was scared, I wish to return the favor.
Semper Giggle
I was coming home last night and traffic in Austin was very heavy so I stopped at a hotel. The clerk said it was due to evacuations. This morning they were full. I was thinking why Austin but I guess Houston taking a chance.
Incredible images!!!
