Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin conceded that as many as 100,000 inner-city residents didn't have the means to leave and an untold number of tourists were stranded by the closing of the airport. At this hour, people are still filing into the Superdome after security screening for weapons and contraband. National Guard have brought in 360,000 MRE (meals ready to eat) to feed the estimated 30,000 storm refugees in the Superdome.

Dang girl, you are good at hiding the chocolates!
We will do it again next time there is a terrible tornado in Okla. Just kidding, hope that never happens again.
Now you've done it, cajungirl! I am pregnant and you just set off a major craving. My mom used to make that when I was a kid (German mom but we lived in the South and she learned a lot of recipes from Southern friends!) I am going to have to call her tomorrow and pester her to make some very soon.
I'm listening to that presser right now (Aaron Broussard Jefferson Parish President) on WWL.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious dittos !
(consider this a replenishment of brownie points burned earlier ? ;-)
Which webcam are you watching?
That makes Katrina far worse than the Galveston 1900 Storm, doesn't it? That is really hard to imagine and horrifying.
Go to sleep.
The estimated position for the storm 12 hours from 10 pm CDT is still offshore, 19.7 miles SSE of Port Sulphur, and 6.5 miles south of the beach.
ME ?
Sounds good!:)
FOlks, landfall can vary depending upon whether it speeds up or slows down.
It slowed down to where if it goes at this speed, it may not hit until 6 or 7 a.m.
Earlier, it could have hit as early as 4 to 5 a.m.
Landfall is not set in stone here.
But, a good guess would be early morning before sunrise...if it really puts on the breaks...during morning commute.
I'm in that group.
Up last night until 2:30, have to get up at 5:30, but I can't leave.
I just thought it was a little distracting. But be my guest, and post your recipes!
Thanks!

Did they get out of there?
jello - cottage cheese and carrots come to mind.
There are other threads you can use to relieve stress. I'm checking this one for the latest facts and don't want to scroll through 50 chit-chat posts to find it.
Seriously folks, a lot of people are going to be going to bed and checking back later. Let's not clutter this thread, if possible, so we can find the news quickly when coming back in.
A pox on you, a pox, I mean it.
Now I have to go make cinnamon toast,, this very minute and it is all your fault.
See what you made me Do!!!!!
Good nite all, I am going for toast and hershey's kisses and to bed.
