I'm up the road in Gonzales, LA. I don't expect to have too much wind. I may lose a few shingles and a little siding. I hope that's all the wind damage that I get. I'm a little worried about drainage and could get water in the house, but even that isn't as big a threat as what most folks are facing. I'm not in an evacuation area and don't want to be on the roads when others need to evacuate for their safety. I may also be called to the plant because I'm on the fire crew. I can get to and from the plant on back roads that others aren't using. I'll likely be without power for a few days. I'll be back when the power is. Good luck to Freepers living south and east of here.
Thanks,
Bill

Fill up anything you can with drinking water. Cook up a few meals for when the electricity goes or if there's a break in the gas. Eat what you can tonight from the fridge and save your canned goods for later. Keep the freezer closed until needed later. Have an ice cream party tonight! Hope you're stocked with charcoal, fuel, or wood for the bbq if the electricity is off for a period of time.
Also, do a quick search for solar oven plans and print them out just in case. Cardboard and tin foil are all that's needed. They work amazingly well.

Be safe, I was glad to read you're post because we know a young couple w/2 kids in Gonzales and knew they were staying but haven't been able to contact them.
