Hope so but they've been very good all day long. Reporting 76mph gusts at the mouth of the river. The storm appears not to be moving east like they hoped.
New update in 15 minutes from hurricane hunters.

There are no Monks in Des Moines.I spent a week there one day two years ago.

I think the airport's actually in Kenner, west of downtown? That's correct.

There is a medical team in the dome and you can be sure they have all kinds of medicines for alcohol detox, seizures, etc.

Maybe we like them with a little thickening.

I make a roux for red beans and rice. We like them to have a little thickner. Really? Do you make them in the skillet or crock pot? I've always used an old family recipe. How does a roux factor in? We've always soaked the beans overnight and then cooked them with sausage, hamhocks and broth for 7-8 hours.

Your sister's been added to the thread entitled "Hurricane Prayer Thread." (See post #51.)
I have no idea what I did when I tried to post a link from that thread to you and it did something weird, so this time I'm not attempting a link - just the thread title.
Please keep us informed!

All he did was make a reference to God.I saw that post; that is NOT all he said.
And I think you are him.
BTW, you're not off to a very good start as a "newbie" when you don't tell the truth.
To: mabelkitty
I think I have a problem with you suggesting bad people are being punished by G-d in this storm.
I'm not going to put up with this any longer.
interesting ...
if you have no religious belief , why would it bother you if someone else did ?
then on the other hand ...
if you have some religious belief .. wouldn't you say the hand of G_d has been shown many times through history?
Are we to believe that he doesn't act in these "modern" times?
if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and seek my face ...

This will be one of the worst disasters ever for the US. It is almost incomprehensible now but in 24 hours we might know all too well how bad it was, certainly in 48 hours.

nope. wrenches, pointy combs, fingernail files; shanks. Basic weaponry for close combat situations.
Personally, I prefer a walking stick or an umbrella.

I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.Assuming 50 mph average, that trip would be roughly 10 hrs.
Maglev, averaging 250 mph, would make the trip in only 2 hrs.
OTOH, 10 hrs on Maglev would travel 2500 miles!!!
