Lol, I know. I live just a couple miles the other side of the Delaware. PA has about the same number of refineries, but greater capacity overall (and DE only has one refinery, in Delaware City). I was speaking collectively in terms of the region. Sorry for not clarifying.

Thanks for the great explaination! I'd been wondering about the eyewall replacement thing.

Mr. Peach just filled both cars; $2.29/gallon at Kroger's gas station. We get 10 cents off per gallon for every $100 in groceries at the store.

He was the one who predicted the strength of this storm after getting into the Gulf when Karina went over Florida. He really knows his stuff.

Too many people talking about the SD the way that others did about Titanic a century ago.

When You get asked the same questions fifteen times in a row by plastic newsreaders, see if YOU don't tend to get more-than-a-little "impatient". :)

You know what I think it was? We (civilians) tend to focus on MPH...like Oh boy! Now it's JUST 160 MPH..Bastardi's point is to focus on the science of the 908mb..he said the wind speed will basically "obey" the pressures and the wind speed will fluctuate- so when Bill suggested now it's only 160...Bastardi just lost it.

Nothing personal. He's had a lllllllong 36 hours.

I certainly would not want to be in that superdome tonight and risk diying among strangers. I'd rather be under a bridge.

What a mess this country has become.

What an utterly stupid comment.

In Hartford, CT, a relatively minor snowstorm caused the collapse of the brand new Civic Center roof. It was the middle of the night and thankfully a game had concluded a few hours previous to the collapse. It was a structural flaw.

I think I had read where Hemmer was due to start tomorrow, the 29th. Given the weather story going on I'm he was called in early--he sure has plenty of experience.

Just because a structure is large and heavy does not make it safe-sometimes, the bigger they are the harder they fall. Nature is stronger than the ideas and buildings of men
Tell him that belongs on a bookmark for the Bible. Seriously.

This buoy is the one to watch. The East side of the storm is going to pack the biggest punch, and it may give an indication of what New Orleans will be hit with.

I am not sure how much wind and waves these buoys can withstand...

Gosh I hope they hurry and get those people in the dome. Can't they make them form a line inside and then search them.
