Now the government is preparing to open a national cord blood bank in hopes of providing an adequate supply to find a match for every patient who needs this kind of stem-cell transplant. This makes much more sense than individuals banking thier own children's cord blood in the remote chance they'll need it decades later.

I just got back from a trip to England, and while there I saw an item on TV about British researchers using a NASA-created device to grow human liver cells from umbilical cord stem cells. They said it was a major breakthrough and that all types of human tissue could be developed this way and that it was uncontroversial because no fetal tissue was required.
Wonder if it got any coverage here?

I read a paper about someone who had a business plan to open a cord blood bank. "It's in the blood." Well, the Bible did tell us, and the stem-cell folks can't squawk.
