Weather girl is reading the entire thing on Fox right now -
The poster janetjanet something never responded and posted nothing else. I'm done with it. Let's move on
Prayed for all in the path of Katrina this morning at church. Stay safe everyone.
Huh? Why?
When will they close the causeway? That will be a 24 mile? graveyard if it is left open too late.
Don't they just shut the well blowout valves and flush the pipes? The blowout valves are usually on the sea floor, right?
That way a well platofrm that gets damaged, won't spill oil.
LOL! SHIRLEY you jest, my good Cringing! There is ONE side which would be happy to do whatever they could to help. We know which side that is. The other side is passing a rumor around that Karl Rove was seen Saturday, boarding a helicopter bound for NO, with a packet of ACME Instant Hurricane seeds in his pocket.
He had his own family flown out of NO this AM but d/n order an evacuation until he got a phone call from GWB!
OK, you win, hurricanes could very well cause earthquakes.
he didn't say "spared". he talked about the the flooding from the lake, but that is alot better then getting the eastern part of the eye.
If they can just make it 24 hours, I'm sure there will be supply runs. That's another advantage of being at the Superdome. It will be the first place supplies are delivered to. Also, Charity Hospital would be a good place to go. If I were stuck and needed to find a place to congregate, that is.
They ran out of time to secure the rigs. Things happened too fast. People had to get out.
Scott Cowan sent out a notice yesterday that the campus is closed thru 9/1 and for studens/staff, etc. to "follow your own evacuation plan." THey tell incoming students/families to have an evacuation plan before getting to the campus, but who really does it ?
>>4 PM CONTRAFLOW WILL STOP!<<
From a west-coaster who is trying hard to grasp this...why in the He** would they do that????
The weather buoy South of Dauphin Island (AL), which is South of Mobile (AL), is reporting 20 foot seas. This is almost due East of the Mouth of the Mississippi River (the buoy).
On the West side of the Mississippi River, the waves are 13 foot.
That 7 foot difference between the East and West sides of the Mouth of the Mississippi is an indication that East of the Mississippi River is going to hit alot harder than the West side -- the rotation of the storm dictates that.
Hopefully the USS Alabama will still be intact or not listing to one side (after the storm has passed by)...
Dusk tonight, if memory serves.
I've been following your posts here and on your thread, along with the ones at the weather forum. Thanks for the effort and the constantcy of updated info. to save lives. It is aprreciated more than you know.
Where did you see the turn north? The latest blip I saw was to the west, which if it persisted would suggest the storm would go just west of NO rather than east, which MIGHT just the NO from the worst flooding. But I have NO expertise on this, and don't pretend to.
