I don't mean to be pissy, but could somebody explain to me why a thread about a current event is locked and then transferred to a "new thread" (actually, thread IV) over a period of few hours? Presumably, posters to the prior thread(s) could move over but how many might just say WTH? So I ask, what's the point of this action? As I recall, the 9-11 threads had many thousands of posts. Is there value added by tactic?

With the high volume threads, it was suggested to me several months ago to limit the volume of posts to 1000. As well, the links at the top of the thread are updated to reflect the position of the storm.

It becomes more difficult to load after 1000 posts

Have those lawyers consulting with the mayor of NO to tackle this injustice after they've racked up sufficient billable hours with him! ;^)
