The news just announced that there aren't enough shelters in New Orleans that can handle a cat 5, and they are only opening them for people who are unable to evacuate.
One of the reasons I choose to live here in the Hampton Roads area is the weather – very few hurricanes, and the one we get every decade or so is no more than a cat1 (so far). Mild winters and bearable summers. We call dust devils tornadoes. No major brush or forest fires, no mud slides, no noticeable earthquakes.

"We have emergency generators in the prisons. We're going to leave the prisoners where they belong." (Police Chief).

Hmmmm, there will be panic in the prisons, you can make book on it.

I think I would be very uncomfortable living in a house by the water in a hurricane zone. At least you placed yourself right.

Hampton Roads might have some trouble though when that volcano collapses and sends a 100ft wave tsunami.
