Ban mother's milk for containing cancer cells. No, better yet ban breasts.
Warning, fries will be ice cold by the time you pull out of the parking lot
I hate to say I told you so, but.......PING
It's only a matter of time until our California public skools start making nutrition courses a requirement - and probably beginning in the elementary grades.
How about a warning label on politicians. No french fry has ever threatened the use of force or imprisonment to take money I earn away from me. No double cheeseburger has ever started a war. No can of soda pop has ever passed a law designed to make his friends rich.
ZOT! How dare you even suggest such a horror!
Warning!
This Warning! label may be hazardous to your health.
Contains, paper and adhesives both of which have been
found to be fatal in children, young adults and the
elderly. Do not ingest in any manner! The smoke from
burning Warning! labels has been known to cause cancer
in laboratory workers.
This Warning! label is manditory on all organic and inorganic items by California law which itself can be hazardous to your health or freedom.
Proposition 65 has pretty much given us that. Nearly every business I go in has one of those "there may be hazardous chemicals here" signs. When the warnings are everywhere, it just becomes background noise. Lockyer's grandstanding with this because he wants to be governor. Meanwhile, he can't be bothered to enforce California Penal Code 834b:
834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws.(b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following:
(1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
(2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States.
(3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity.
(c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.
They'll have to pry my fries from my cold, dead, chubby, greasy fingers.
What if I don't see the label before I pop a fry into my mouth because the fries spilled from their box and into the bag? We need a label on each fry!
Lockyer dropped the serialized bullet scheme and has replaced it with warning labels on fries. What a maroon!
I want a warning label on steak knives. "Warning: may be dangerous if used to stab humans or other living things."
WARNING: Living can lead to death.
How many more laws before we reach Utopia?
I'm having trouble keeping track.
Warning: voting for a Democrat could lead to a paternalistic fascist government.
As silly as this sounds, here is the MSDS for acrylamide from Aldrich, a leading chemical supplier in the U.S. Acrylamide is nasty stuff from a health perspective. The real question is what are the long term chronic effects from low level exposure? In a way, if fast food companies post those warnings, maybe that will be their legal defense when some moron with cancer blames the fast food industry and sues. This could turn into replacement litigation for the asbestos trial lawyers.
