The media spin would be unbearable. They would paint all of these places as concentration camps, and you know it.

Not to sound heartless, but I would separate families, men to one center and women and children to another. That would discourage even more illegals.

I like your idea best. Why house them for any length of time on my tax dollar. Better to use the taxes for a big, very big, wall.

Hey Rosie
I'm sure there's no need to apologize to anyone. I'm sure more then two FReepers thought of similar ideas.

This is a terrible idea. Its worse then allowing them to be at-large, because it transfers the total burden of maintaining them to the tax payer. I think you are missing her point here. The way it is now, they turn them loose and tell them to report on X day for sentencing. Most of them never show up. The reason for this catch and release is because the feds claim they have no room to detain them while they await trial. This gives us a place to detain them( in all honesty I, and several others, have mentioned this idea before, but it is still a good one and cudos to TheYellowRose). They cost us money now, at least we would know they would not be out in the country committing crimes and generally screwing up the economy.
I think it is a great idea. As for shipping them back as soon as they are caught, yes, that might be the ultimate answer but the feds won't do that. This would take their lame excuses about not having room for to detain and trash it.

Two rows of chainlink fence, 8' high. Razor wire on top. Rows 25 yards apart. Stock the gap with landmines and rattlesnakes.
If nothing else, it'll slow 'em down.

Good idea. Monday morning I will email my senators, Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions to see what can be done to expedite this.

Sounds like a really good idea! I wonder if you could get a Senator behind it and maybe get something going on it?

An excellent idea. In fact it's probably too good and why they won't do it.

We have the power of the vote to force an end to the free flow of illegals.Welcome back!!
With all due respect, we don't need to vote. Rather, we need to light a fire under elected officials, from President Bush on down, to enforce the laws already on the books.
One exception to this would be to accelerate the SAVE program from pilot to full blown status ASAP.

Offer them a choice - be returned immediately and barred (along with any descendants) permanently, or come to a work camp in America. Products they make are sold to pay their support, and after 10 years they are eligible for citizenship...

I hope you're feeling much better now.
Excellent idea. I hope a lot of media types are reading/will read this thread. If the gov doesn't do it, it proves they don't want to solve the problem.
BTW, are you going to run for any public office???
