(Reverse Time Order More Recent Entries Toward Top)Updates from:
'You Don't Speak For Me, Cindy' Campaign
Deborah Mathews reporting for The Iconoclast1:45 p.m.
There are apparently three Cindy Sheehan supporters out here in the middle of the crowd. Their signs appear to have been torn up and they are being escored away by law enforcement personnel.
These people are serious out here.
Someone's yelling, "That's what they want to do, distract us."
People in the crowd roar at any given moment.
Melanie Morgan just screamed out, "This is not Vietnam." The crowd absolutely erupted.
The father of a boy in sniper training in Iraq said he spoke with his son on the phone who said, "Cindy Sheehan shut up. You're getting us killed."
"Cindy go home" is what the crowd is chanting now.
One sign says, "Cindy Sheehan, the bitch in the ditch."
There are now 2,000 plus people out here.
Cindy. Morgan said, "Let's get this show running, keep it running, because afterwards, we taking the fight to Cindy."
Someone just yelled, "There go Ccindy's pimps, the media."
People are still coming up the road, 10 or 15 at a time.
Fireman whose twin brother was killed in Iraq just delivered a speech. He said that about two week short of retirement the brother was killed and "this is a war about good and evil, and we are winning it. My brother died for what he believed in."
Someone is yelling, "Those of you that were spit on, brutalized, had your soul stolen after returning from Vietnam... That is not going to happen again."
There is a huge mob around the stage, and a lot of flatbed trailers filled with everybody from the media to Uncle Sam clones.
There is the policeman who escorted the Cindy Sheehan supporters away.
(moments later)
I just asked him, "Was there any violence," and he said, "I can't..." (and paused) Then smiled and said "Are you a reporter." I said, "Yes." Then he walked off and said, "Oh, that explains it." I didn't get an answer.
It is intense here. Intense is a mild word.
1:15 p.m.
There are upwards of a thousand people here now.
A group of three people were walking away from the rally carrying a sign tucked into her pants that said, "Liar, liar, pants on fire, George W. Bush, is it burning yet?"
American flags are in hats, red, white, and blue on clothes. People are carrying signs.
The chairs under the tent are full. Barbecue is being sold, a tent is set up for Gold Star Families.
People of all ages and types are here.
One shirt said, "I hate hippies."
One sign says, "We support President Bush. Period."
Someone just did an accapella song, and is receiving big applause. Now, they are chanting "U.S.A. Support our troops." Flags are literally everywhere.
(Actually Cindy was the producer. Natalie Holloway was the pusher who suddenly disappeared in Aruba on her way to link up with Lance in Paris.)
If I lived in New Orleans I'd be either on my way out or listening to LOCAL news or THE WEATHER CHANNEL?
Cover the hurricane, yes...absolutely, but I don't need directions out of New Orleans as I sit here in WV.
Will do! Thanks! :)
Excellent,That is so funny.
Nope, a mixed view over there. Some are saying hand the crosses over and than hug them. Others saying don't allow them to have them or tell them they will paint over the name and just leave it as white.
I'm upset!
I just sent another email.
Let's let them know what we think of their Fair and Balanced reporting.
Sir, you insult a fine piece of earth moving equipment.
The Ditch BattleUPDATES ON CINDY SHEEHAN VISIT TO CRAWFORD

(Reverse Time Order More Recent Entries Toward Top)1:30 p.m.
Michael Harvey reporting for the IconoclastAt Camp Casey I, the Bush side is chanting "George Bush!" and the anti-war side is finishing their sentence by chanting "War criminal!"
The Bush side is loudly calling out, "Where is your anti-semitic leader?"
One pro-war sign says, "Cindy and Osama sitting in a tree." Another says "Who's paying you?"
A bunch of cars are passing by honking, as they have been constantly today.
Now the Bush side is yelling, "I'm for W."
There are close to 200 people out here now (both sides combined).
Music and barbecue is planned on the Camp Casey side this afternoon.
1:17 p.m.
Michael Harvey reporting for the IconoclastAt Camp Casey I, it is hot, probably 110 degrees. Members on each side of the triangle are yelling at each other, veterans for the war on one side, veterans against the war on the other. They are taunting each other.
The crowd is growing and parking has become a big problem.
At the pro-Bush side of the encampment, a hot-dog stand has been set up.
Awesome report! Thank you so much!
He was. And I really liked his reporting from there. But I understand he is a Democrat, and when he has anchored on FNC, I have noticed some bias - but then I am biased too so maybe I wasn't fair.
Media thinks this way ... if you go after them to cover a story they feel they're being exploited and will ignore the coverage request, especially on a August weekend when the network 'A' teams are all out in the Hampton's being entertained by their wealthy liberal friends.
Yes, I noticed
BTW .. there was other stuff that was reported on that call from Crawford that I didn't mention for obvious reasons :0)
What a shame that the only place DU can get accurate news is FR. LOL
I only talked for a minute, because he's trying to keep stuff on track out there. I told him that no live media reports. He said there is TONS OF MEDIA THERE.
Maybe none of them anticipated the groundswell of disgust with their pushing Cindy Sheehan 24/7 - and they didn't send satellite trucks to our rally.
Everyone keep an eye on their local and national news tonight, and report back to FR.

Imagine gathering a group of people together and going on a caravan to protest a woman who is grieving the loss of her son.
Preposterous. Downright evil. So Republican.

"The message in them is not victory, not even survival. It is cut-and-run."
That's the most mis-guided thing I've read all day.
Yellow ribbons do not symbolize "cut and run." Where do you get that from? Yellow ribbons are a sign that a loved one uses to let their far-away loved one know that they are thinking of them, that they support them and that they wish them a safe journey home...WHEN THE JOB IS DONE.
During ODS, we had to warn families NOT to display yellow ribbons on their homes, because it was making them targets for morons like this Cindy woman and her minions. Anti-war mutants would show up at the HOMES of soldiers and harrass their families. Unreal!
If ANYONE has co-opted what a yellow ribbon stands for, it's those pukes. :(
