Air America Ratings Still in the Toilet

With Brian Maloney (aka the Radio Equalizer) a little busy trying to track down the latest on the Air America scandal, I though I would give an update on the dismal new radio ratings that came out this week.

In Washington, D.C., WWRC fell to a 0.3 rating and is in last place in the market.

In Boston, the two AAR stations take up the last two spots in the ratings chart with ratings of 0.4 and 0.2.

In New York, the flagship AAR station, WLIB has just a flat 1.0 rating and is in 24th place.

In Detroit, WDTW was a flat 0.4 which is tied for last in the city.

In Chicago, WCPT is stuck at 0.4 and just out of the cellar in the market.

In San Francisco, KQKE increased slightly to a tiny 1.4 in the most liberal city in the county and is in 23rd place. Still the station is down 0.5 from last summer. In San Jose, KQKE improved to 1.1, but is also down 1.5 last summer.

In Los Angeles, KLTK improved slighty to 0.9, but is in 30th place in the market.

In Monterey-Santa Cruz (CA) area, the AAR station didn't even make the ratings list.

In San Diego, KLSD, which was once considered one of the AAR stations that was succeeding, is flat at just a 1.7 rating. That is down nearly a full point from last Summer.

In Riverside-San Bernardino, CA (my hometown), KCAA doesn't even make the ratings list.

In Philadelphia, WHAT turned in a 0.5 rating which is up from its spring rating of 0.0, but is down from last summer's 0.8.

In Akron, Ohio, WARF is stuck at 0.4 -- good enough for last place -- and that is down from a 1.1 rating this winter.

They're losing money, in hock to their creditors and no one in Blue State America seems to like them. Gee, gotta wonder why?

I've listened to Air America ... for about 20 minutes. 5 minutes here ... 5 minutes there ... I couldn't handle it ... the seething personal hatred and contempt that drips from these folks. Who wants to listen to that?

There is obviously something wrong here. The NYT says that the progressive radio program is doing great.

Besides boys and girls clubs, who is stupid enough to invest good funds for this trash that no one seemingly listens to?

Air America was always just a financial vehicle to disguise campaign contributions to the rats as "business expenses," theft of assets from legitimate charities, and phony tax shelters.

There was never any market for the product.

I would love to see their billings. I am sure they are running a lot of commercial inventory "gratis." AAR Account Executive: "Thanks for buying 5 spots, we've decided to throw in an additional 10 spots every week to make up for crappy ratings." Too funny for words.

I do not think that the Boys and Grils Clubs intentionally invested funds in the flailing company. I think they were the victim of criminal activity. But AAR is going to make it right by paying them back just as soon as they start making money.

A 0.3 rating in Washington DC??? I'd think it would be higher than that if only for the RATs running it in place of muzak in their offices. Maybe they can't stand it for any length of time either.

Only an idiot liberal would have ever though Air America could fly. All it's potential audience is either listening to shock jocks or headbanger music or rap.

Opus RESENTS your callous remark...as well as being compared to that steaming pile of effluvia that is "Air America"...
