The Al Qaida network in Iraq has launched efforts to strike targets in Western Europe.
Western and Iraqi intelligence sources said the Al Qaida organization headed by Abu Mussib Al Zarqawi has moved operatives to Europe for a series of attacks against NATO states. The sources said the strikes were meant to pressure members of the U.S.-led coalition to leave Iraq.
"Osama Bin Laden has asked the head of Al Qaida in Iraq, Al Zarqawi, to organize an attack in Europe, more devastating than that of Sept. 11, 2001," Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Hamid Al Bayati said.
Al Bayati told the Italian daily Il Messaggero that Al Zarqawi has established a network in Europe for imminent strikes. He said Italy was a leading target of the Al Qaida network.
Just like the protests in this country.
If these crazy rag-heads follow through on this threat, their cause will be really harmed. The euro-weenies will accept terror {in small doses} but imagine the Eiffel Tower being blown with 3,000 dead, or a beer hall in Munich with 1,500 people celebrating Oktoberfest reduced to rubble.
Europe is being slowly being overtaken with islamists but if there are major attacks they will react and we will see the war on terror being fought on european soil. The euro-weenies won't be able to surrender, there is no one to surrender to. Their choice will be simple, fight or die, surrender {much as they'd like to} will not be an option. After trying to surrender {and being killed for their efforts} it will become clear {even to them} that surrender is not an option.
Haven't they been saying this for 4 years?
We have 5 million Arabs here. It's not Islam that is the problem, necessarily, it's the "crazy rag-heads" and lax security (urban, county, state or national) NOT watching and/or NOT expelling/imprisoning those "crazy rag-heads," wherever they land.
The WTC routinely had 50,000 people in the towers ... and we still lost 3,000. I can't imagine many targets in Europe that can yield that amount of a death toll. Cartainly not the Eiffel Tower ... and I doubt a German beergarten.
I was reading an article in the last few days (here maybe) about how Muslims assimilate more readily in the US. I personally live in Los Angeles right next to one of the biggest Iranian, Iraqi, Middle Eastern, Armenian enclaves in America ... and there isn't even a hint of a problem here.
Although I cannot speak for the Islamic situations in say ... Detroit, for instance.
No, they would have to make a choice between something famous--the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Leaning Tower of Pisa--or if they want to kill a lot of people maybe bring down one of those horrible anonymous high-rises that ring most of Europe's old cities.
I know losing a momument with STRONG emotional ties would strike a blow.
The Euros don't contribute THAT much to the fight in Iraq. This sounds more like it's getting to hard to hit the Iraquis, so they're opting for softer targets. Or perhaps they're looking for funding from the Euro Lefties. In any event, as others have pointed out, it appears to be self-defeating. "Bomb the Americans? Well they deserve it. Bomb us? HEY, WAIT A MINUTE!"
And liberals in Europe will again whine that it's all their fault, and they deserve whatever these poor oppressed people (Muslims) do to them.
"Zarqawi Network Plans Attacks In Europe"
Good. Start with France, Germany and Russia.
This sounds like nonsense. Why provoke the European Union of Socialist States anyway?
If the SOL was destroyed would France build us another one?
Never questioned the security forces of the euro-weenies, just their willingness in the fight against the islamists. There are video cams all over europe and they intrusion of the governments of europe is well documented. Their techniques are not an issue, just the balls required to use them.
Iraq getting too hot for him? Guess it's time to move on to easier pickin's
Zapatero on the phone with Al Qaida: "But, Abu, we had a deal!"
