UMDNJ Claims Missing Papers Were Stolen

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey said Thursday it now believes that no files sought by investigators were stolen during a break-in.

``After a thorough investigation of reports about missing documents following the break-in that occurred during the last weekend in July, we have concluded with a high degree of confidence, that no documents requested of UMDNJ by any outstanding subpoena are missing due to the break-in. Documents responsive to the subpoenas had been removed to a secure location before the time of the break-in,'' the school said in a statement.

The statement came a week after UMDNJ President John Petillo told The Star-Ledger of Newark that the theft of documents sought by investigators appeared to be ``an inside job.''

No arrests have been made in the break-in, said a spokesman for the FBI's Newark office, Special Agent Steve Siegel, who added that the bureau could not confirm reports that it is investigating the school.

The country's largest freestanding health sciences university has said it has been complying with FBI subpoenas issued in June seeking records of all political donations it made since 2000.

Investigators also are interested in millions of dollars in no-bid contracts the school awarded to politically connected firms. A similar probe has been started by the State Commission of Investigation, a bipartisan arm of the state Legislature.

Excerpt:

The perp may be from Pakistan and may have sought out Dr. Malik’s help (because he is also from Pakistan) to get employment/access to a nearby university hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Dr Malik is on the staff there. The perp may have used lab facilities in the hospital (either at Hamilton or the main campus or one of its affiliates) to safely handle or prep the different batches of anthrax.

Dr. Malik has been in the U.S. since the 70's or so and is long established here. He is probably not a party to the terrorists. However, as head of the Islamic Center of Central NJ and being from Pakistan and having made it as a doctor here ... we wonder if a newcomer to the country living in that area, attending that mosque and wanting to become a doctor ... may have asked him for a job referral or such.

Robert Wood Johnson is UMDNJ

If we don't look at the stolen papers, how do we know they are not relevant? And where was Sandy Berger on the night in question?

I just realized something.

The title of this article is:

UMDNY Claims Missing Papers Were Stolen

That is the title from 1010Wins.

BUT, the hospital is: University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey

The abbreviation should be UMDNJ

1010wins made a typo and this won't pull correctly in searches.

Can you change the title? Or does it have to match the 1010wins typo?

Thanks! I wonder what percentage of UMDNJ's funding comes from tax-exempt donations of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, i.e., is RWJF using them to covertly engage in political donations? UMDNJ seems to be hand-in-glove with RWJ-related entities (and also, incidentally, they seem to work together in the so-called "palliative care" business):

News Release: University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School, Awarded $374,770 Grant for Innovations in Palliative Care in Intensive Care Setting: Project Will Develop Model of Palliative Care in Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU)", March 3, 2003

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ) today received a 3-year grant from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; the nearly $375,000 grant was awarded through the Foundation’s Promoting Excellence in End-of-Life Care program. The project will use the funds to develop an exportable model of palliative care in trauma/surgical intensive care, a new arena for palliative care services. . . UMDNJ is one of four grantees across the nation selected by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for funding from a highly competitive pool of 242 applicants who responded to the “Promoting Palliative Care Excellence in Intensive Care” call for proposals. (See attached list of grantees.)
