IMHO, if you're going to bomb Iraa, better make sure your border defenses are shipshape first.
"Is Sharon setting the Palestinians up for all out war? A winner takes all, no-holds-barred battle to the finish? I say yes. It's entirely possible. And it's a war that Israel would win easily, at least on the ground. However, as usual, the world politics side of this possibility is not in Israel's favor. But since when did that ever stop Sharon? Stay tuned."
exactly
---But I digress. Back to the hanging rope. You see, when Palestinian terrorists launch Kassam rockets into S'derot or other parts of Israel, it's called terrorism. But what will it be called when that same missile is launched from a newly minted Palestinian State? War, my friend. War.---
The sooner, the better.

I don't agree with this, but it's an opinion frequently posed on FR.
Yep. Without "insurgent" assistance, the "war" should be over by, oh, noonish.
I'm waiting for the "kick a$$ and take names" part of the movie.
Well I wondered what Sharon was up to. I was siding with Bibi but hey,if this is Sharon's end game. This is brilliant.Wait until its a state, and then if they fire on you, that IS an act of war.
And yes, overt acts of war from Gaza to Israel are what will almost certainly happen, and the Bulldozer has a reply for that I'm sure.
My only question is how all the Gazan residents remaining after the brief war will be rounded up, and where they will be deported to.

One can only hope that this is the plan, and that Sharon hasn't become a tired old man more concerned with his "place in history" or his son's welfare than with the security of the people and State of Israel. I've always suspected this, but he's a wily old fox who has won major battles and wars by doing the unexpected. Again, we can only hope that he's prepared to really slam the Arabs in Gaza HARD if they start up.
Excellent post. I've been thinking much the same for months but am not as articulate as you are.
Sharon has been fighting for Israel -- in the most literal sense -- since he was a teenager. He is one tough old coot. I'm not sure what he has up his sleeve, but I don't for one minute think he's gone soft in his old age.
