During an interview this afternon on The Big Story with John Gibson, Congressman Curt Weldon reiterated his scathing criticisms of the Pentagon and the 9/11 Commission. A transcript of the interview follows below.
The first part of the interview consisted of Congressman Weldon's comments about the anti-war protests outside of Walter Reed Hospital. The portion of the interview related to Able Danger is transcribed below.
Gibson: Congressman let me turn back to Able Danger. You have been in the forefront on this and you have been kind of scolding the Pentagon, telling them to stop issuing these statements that they can't find any records of the reports given by the Able Danger members to the 9/11 Commission and others. So where do things stand now?
Weldon: Well, I talked to the Pentagon spokesman yesterday, and told him that it was totally inappropriate...and he agreed with much of what I said. They in fact have four boxes of materials that I'm aware of, and Steve Cambone is in fact going through. I have ten charts that I've been provided about Able Danger, so it's pretty surprising to me that they say they can't find anything. The fact is John, this story's going to get deeper, it's going to get dirtier, but were going to get to the bottom of it. We spent $15 million and over 80 staffers on the 9/11 Commission. In two weeks I've uncovered more about Able Danger and Al Qaeda than they did in two years. There's something wrong with that. When a 9/11 Commissioner like Slade Gordon goes public as he did a couple of nights ago, and spends his time calling a decorate, Bronze Star recipient a liar on nation TV? There's something wrong here. I support the 9/11 Commission. Their goal is to get the facts. Their goal is to tell the American people what happened before 9/11, not to resort to calling a decorated Bronze Star winner a liar on national TV. It's outrageous.
Gibson: You're talking about LTC Shaffer?
Weldon: Absolutely. And then he cited a woman, who he said is telling the opposite story. Well, I know that woman, and that woman supports LTC Shaffer down the road. And when she eventually takes the oath, and swears, and tells the truth, it will be totally supportive of what LTC Shaffer and what...CPT, uh, CPT...the Naval Captain...
Gibson: Philpott.
Weldon: Philpott, this past week. These are brave soldiers. Philpott commands one of our naval vessels, one of our war vessels. Wwhat has the 9/11 Commission come down to? A name calling session to save their own hide because it's embarrassing, they didn't do their job in fully investigating what happened here? The American people deserve answers. That's all we want. I've not called anyone names.
Gibson: Everybody's trying to figure out what went on here. Are you saying, is it your theory, is it your gut sense that for some reason the 9/11 Commission did not want to know what LTC Shaffer and CPT Philpott were reporting to them?
Weldon: It was either total incompetence, or a direct, deliberate attempt to not learn the facts of Able Danger. John we have five people... not one, not two...five people who will go under the oath, in front of the Congress and will testify that they saw images and details of Al Qaeda, of the Brooklyn Cell and of Mohammed Atta over one year before 9/11. CMDR Philpott said it was in January and February of 2000 that he first identified Mohammed Atta. Why does the 9/11 Commission not investigate that? What were these 80 staff people and $15 million used for? Why should it take a member of Congress and a couple of staffers from my office to go through and find all this information. And John, what's so interesting, you can't believe the e-mails, you can't believe the phone calls. We've got people coming out of the woodwork, who now have bits and pieces of information. The story's only getting bigger, and eventually it's not going to be wild accusations on Fox TV or the NY Times. It's going to be a Congressional hearing, under oath where people will come in, and we'll get to the bottom of this. The American people deserve that.
Gibson: Congressman, thank you very much, I gotta run.
Weldon: My pleasure.

To heck with Congress. We need a special prosecutor.
I saw him this morning on Fox'n'Friends and again this afternoon with John Gibson. I sure hope this fella doesn't run out of steam before the MSM catches up to the story.
And could it portend to be the beginning of the end of the schlick meisters of the left and their hero ex co-presidents?
Words fail me
Sorry, but "Pooey" on a Special Prosecutor...we need GALLOWS! Gallows for Gorelick and Company!
ping
I'll settle for Leavenworth :)
There is no doubt in my mind that Gorelick was placed on the 911 commission with the object of protecting the Clinton administration, Janet Reno and herself.
LTC Shaffer is on O'Reilly NOW, with his attorney.
Rush had some interesting comments on this today.
Basically, he said Weldon is loaded for bear. And this could be and incredible story. But he also said this could destroy careers, and we have no concept what people are capable of doing to protect their political power.
Sorry for the double post....this whole topic tends to get my blood boiling and my fingers get fat and stupid.
SOMEBODY NEEDS TO PAY FOR THIS.....BIG TIME.
FOR THE FAMILIES IF FOR NO ONE ELSE'S SAKE.
JEDI.
LTC Shaffer is on O'Reilly NOW, with his attorney.
If the 9-11 families, not to mention the rest of the nation, want any justice, it'll only be gotten by a special prosecutor. If one can be found who's willing to let the chips fall where they may.
God bless him!
Name ONE...just ONE DECENT Republican that was on that 9-11 Commission. I can't think of one. They can ALL go down with those b*stard liberals!!
