So the cross on my daughter's bedroom wall isn't a real cross because it isn't on a grave?

I believe those would be pretend headstones, not pretend crosses.

But what do I know? Obviously not much, since everyone who has replied to my question seems to think that the only real crosses are used to mark graves.

Funny - I never thought those commemorative crosses by the side of the highway had anybody buried under 'em.

When crosses are used as photo op props in the manner Cindy Sheehan is using them at Camp Fruitbag, they are not real.

Crosses on the sides of highways usually mark the point where someone did in fact die. So they are more than symbolic and in fact are a spritual markers for those who placed them there.

For Cindy, it's about getting the photo op.

Here's the deal.
Those "crosses" down in Crawford are being used as props by the mostly Marxist, God-less, neo-Communist crowd that has gathered there. End of story.

Does anyone really believe that any of those people actually believe in God? Let's keep it real, ok?

I think these qualify as pretend crossed because they do not honor anyone, they are PROPS being used to make a political statement!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, a cross is REAL when the person displaying it recognizes and respects what it represents, the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What bothers ME about this display of crosses, other than the fact that most are displayed without the permission of the loved ones who's names are on them, is the fact that so many of those folks down in Crawford have complete and utter comtempt for what the cross represents. Therefore, their use of it just is not real, and these are "phony" crosses, props used in an attempt to make themselves more sympathetic to the many, many folks in America who honor what it truly represents.
