My mom said that no one should ever use television as a model for America. It's a rude awakening when you actually get here. Same with my father's family. Lots of hype in the old country then all that hype disappears when shoved together in a damp tenament. America is the land of 'milk and honey' but you really do have to break major ass to get it.
Its amazing how many foreigner I have met, whether from Europe, Latin America, or Asia, who think America is like Friends or Baywatch. God help us if they think that Survivor represents average Americans.
