Unfortunately, conservatives don't have an impressive track record of winning statewide elections in New Jersey. It' a bummer, but Tom Kean is probably the best we can hope for. With Jon Corzine damaged by his funneling cash to a union rep he was sleeping with, this race is in play regardless of the outcome in the Governor's race.
I think this next year is going to be very very interesting
Son of the 9/11 Ommission Commission Commisar?
This is the idiot whose trying to bring a NY style smoking ban here.
F*** this RINO
I'll be voting for the other guy
I believe so. His father is a highly popular former Governor.
I will support anyone who challenges Kean in the primary.
He was governor before Jim Florio, that's a million years ago.
I might have to root against this one. I'm tolerant of a couple of RINO's as they help us keep the majority BUT I think our RINO quota is full or darn close.
When Republicans get a filibuster-proof majority (60), the RINO qiota will be filled (providing the RINO's are only from Gore/Kerry states). New Jersey isn't known for its convservative voting habits.
Oh good, now the Gang of 14 can be a gang of 20+
New Jersey isn't known for its convservative voting habits.
This is true.
Bush won 31 states - we should have 62 Senators without any blue states. The GOP should go fishing where the fish are.
He should tell his daddy to 'fess up about his criminal coverup actions as a co-chair the 9/11 Commission.
I agree. But once again, the Republican Party is afraid to put someone forward who actually embodies the principles they purport to represent. And the National Party is more concerned about counting "R"s than actually attempting to elect actual conservatives that could advance the agenda. I think many people are getting tired of this tendency to just run Democrat Lite candidates instead of actual conservatives. Of course, here in Pennsylvania, the Democrats are trying the reverse strategy in the Senate race against Santorum by backing another son of a former Governor, Bob Casey, Jr. The difference is that Casey Jr. on the campaign trail makes a comatose patient look animated. Casey will have the advantage of lots of Dem and special interest group money, but he is a Kerry type candidate that fails to generate much positive enthusiasm among voters. If Santorum loses, it won't be because of Casey, but because of his own negatives (for example his recent statements which basically state that conservatives who believe in non-intrusive governments are a danger to be avoided).
Yes, the son of the screw up.

LOL, posted by "Clintonfatigued", wouldn't ya know, we're Kean Fatigued!
I agree with you totally in principle, but sometimes local politics intrude. For example, how do we explain North Dakota and Nebraska, two states that supported GWB by large margins but give us three 'Rats and Chuck Hagel? On the other hand, Maine has two Republican women -- granted, not Conservative, but they won't filibuster judicial nominees who respect the Constitution and that's a lot better than if Maine sent two 'Rats to the Senate.
I'll take incremental progress anywhere we can find it. Over time, we'll get more and more nominees through and eventually bring a halt to rogue judges and Justices.

Very well-stated.
Bill Spadea is the only Republican who can challenge Rush Holt and actually win. If Spadea does not get back into that race, the District 12 seat will go Democrat for the next 20 years at least.
If Spadea does not want to jump back into that race, where else could he go? Well, there is the US Senate seat. I'm not campaigning for Tom Kean Jr. in a thousand years. Spadea has the resume and the conservative qualifications needed to win the Republican nomination.
Ditto that. Tom Kean Jr. is all anyone talks about inside the party. Are we going to act like Democrats and just annoint an insider? Bill needs to challange the party establishment and Tom Kean Jr. to save the NJ Republican party before its too late.
