DISCOVERY CHANNEL PRESENTS THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK: A REMARKABLE TRIBUTE TO THE HEROISM ABOARD UNITED AIRLINES FLIGHT 93
Minute-by-Minute Retelling of Attempt to Take Back the Plane is Most Comprehensive Effort To-Date
Never-Before-Heard Personal Accounts From Family Members and Rarely Heard Voice Recordings From Passengers and Crew
The Discovery Channel will present THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK, featuring personal accounts of witnesses and first-time interviews with families and friends of the heroes of Flight 93, on Sunday, September 11, 2005, at 8 PM (ET/PT). The compelling 90-minute special, a combination documentary and dramatization, chronicles the heroism of the 33 passengers and seven crewmembers on United Airlines Flight 93, which was hijacked, re-routed toward Washington, D.C., and crashed in Somerset County, Pa., on September 11, 2001. The announcement was made today by Jane Root, executive vice president and general manager of Discovery Channel.
THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK is a minute-by-minute retelling of the plane's final moments as those on board fought to regain control of the aircraft. This dramatic documentary was developed with unprecedented cooperation from United Airlines and unparalleled access to the families and friends of those on board.
Since no one can ever know what actually happened on Flight 93, THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK is based on research, comprehensive evidence including the 9/11 Commission Report and actual voice recordings left by passengers and crewmembers. THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK uses the best possible evidence available to recreate the struggle inside Flight 93, including extensive interviews with family and friends and their very personal conjectures on how their loved ones would have reacted to the situation. The film enables viewers to better understand the events of that fateful morning and provides a deeper appreciation of the remarkable men and women aboard the plane.
"As the only Americans with a battle plan that fateful day, the heroes of Flight 93 confronted the terrorists and literally fought back against the enemy," said Judith A. McHale, president and chief executive officer, Discovery Communications Inc. "The passengers' extraordinary heroism saved thousands of lives in our nation's capital and Discovery is honored to present this tribute to their remarkable sacrifice."
THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK represents a continuing corporate commitment to commemorate the heroism demonstrated by the passengers and crew on Flight 93. A portion of the proceeds from this film will go to the monument being erected for these fallen heroes.
"Discovery Channel is committed to quality and dynamic storytelling that portrays real people involved in extraordinary endeavors," added Jane Root, Discovery Channel EVP and GM. "Those aboard Flight 93 epitomized the meaning of extraordinary and have a legacy that must live on."
Discovery commissioned London-based Brook Lapping Productions (BLP), an Emmy Award-winning production company with an international reputation for accuracy, to research and present the remarkable story of THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK. BLP Productions has worked closely with family members, unearthing new insights, new eyewitness accounts and rarely heard recordings.
My eyes are welling up thinking about it.
Hey MSM...ask these families about that puke Cindy.
9/11 will never happen again, anywhere. I'd rather risk the very slight possibility that I could die in a blown up plane than go through the dehumanizing searches at airports.
At the very least, allow specialty airlines that wish to fly passengers like me to operate with small airplanes from small airports. I'd pay the extra money. I'm not flying this weekend on a trip I'm making merely because I don't want the hastle.
Some Americans will fight the enemy rather than sing kumbya to them in vain hope of making "friends'.
Click here for a message to Cindy Sheehan from General Douglas MacArthur!
Turn your sound on to hear MacArthur's actual voice!
Just finished watching "Inside 9/11".
I was amazed to see the video footage of Americans leaping to their deaths to avoid burning alive. The fact that it is being shown on TV is amazing. I burnt the DVD.
What Cindy Sheehan and the pro-terrorist crowd don't realize is that international terrorism is a multi-headed snake. Afghanistan was only one head. Iraq another. Iran another. We can not simply cut one head of the serpent and then walk away feeling comfortable.
As stated in the show by an intelligence expert "I am afraid people have become complacent.... as one of my friends told me, it might take being hit with a nuclear attack to get people to realize how serious this problem is".
We all need to emphasize to the apathetic just how dangerous North Korea, Iran, Syria, and the others are... and how important Iraq is.
Since 9/11 the feds have prohibited release of the tower-plane conversations saying they needed to keep them confidential so they can prosecute the one terrorist that didn't make it on board (can't remember his name). Does anyone know if they have released those tapes -- can't tell the entire story without them.
Has anyone seen this?
Knowing the MSM they will try to score gay agenda points by playing up Mark Bingham's homosexuality. I wouldn't want kids to see that. I'll wait to watch it until after I read about it on FR.
Didn't you hear? The left has debunked that fable about heroic passengers. It never really happened; the Bush administration made it up to cover their shoot down of the plane. < /sarcasm >
Thanks for the heads up. I'm passing it along in e-mail.
I saw the trailer for it on Discovery and it looks like it will be in honor of the heroes and respectful. Starts out by saying something like how the terrorists on 9/11 thought they had everything planned and prepared - but they didn't count on who would be on board that plane.

Especially under the constraints of the marginally cognizant Norman Minetta.
Just how many would-be hijackers has the vaunted TSA prevented since they started harassing us high-mileage frequent business flyers, anyway?
Anybody know?

Kiefer Sutherland to Narrate THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK, Discovery Channel's Comprehensive Account of United Airlines Flight 93 on 9/11
I can only imagine the toll it has taken on you. God bless you and keep you safe.
Criminy, how many has the TSA 'hired"?
God bless you and thank you for your service.
I still think that those who fought back on Flight 93 should be posthumously commissioned and awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
