GE was saying that given a chance, IBM would want us all to live in the BRIC.

Read his comment "Good line, too bad it seems true. IBM wants us all to move to what they call BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) if we want a job.

Actually GE *and you* both have continued to ignore the fact IBM is doing what it is doing so it can sell servers, mainframe on the hardware side and global services consulting on the other. You both continue to imply that they are giving these nations software either to hurt the US industry, or because they are some sort of communist. I asked you *twice* about the different business models of IBM and MS and neither time did you even bother to reply..

Lets follow...

GE: Isn't the trade imbalance with these countries large enough already, without us giving them advanced technology completely for free now? I bet these givaways won't even be counted.

SWC: So when does the IBM boycott begin??

GE: Ours began some time ago. I suggest you start yours if you haven't already.

SWC: Agreed. This is the slap-in-the-face to the US tactics that pi$$ me off.

N3W: LOL, IBM gives code for business reasons... "booo evil IBM"... MS gives code for business reasons in response... "yay MS doing what they can to keep an American company in business"

Note above I am making a point that in youre little exchange with GE youre deamonizeing IBM for doing something thats in their business interest "This is the slap-in-the-face to the US tactics that pi$$ me off" so I point out that IBM and MS are doing what they do for business reasons and their is duplicity in the way GE treats it. Lets Continue:

SWC: Can you please provide an example of where I praised MS for giving software away for free to foreign companies?

(Maybe I should have said, "of course MS had to give away code for business needs instead of yay") My point was you're excusing one and calling the other anti american. Lets Continue:

N3W: Or are you saying that we should boycoot MS because "Agreed. This is the slap-in-the-face to the US tactics that pi$$ me off."

Here I bring it back to what you said, that if we should boycott IBM because of its practices why not MS?

SWC: And again, please show me where MS is giving software away for free to foreign governments. If they are, I would seriously consider it.

Good point, I want to address why this is not a cut and dry issue

N3W: Youre right MS sold code to Chinese communist, and IBM gave it... I guess it must be because IBM hates American and bill gates gets puppy dog eyes every time he sees an American flag. I mean its not like it could have anything to do with the fact the companies have two different business models right?

This is me pointing out the first time that there are different business models (software vs Hardware/Service) to think about before saying "This is the slap-in-the-face to the US tactics that pi$$ me off."

SWC: If you cannot see the difference between selling your product in an open global market and giving away freebies to a foreign company, that you won't for Americans, then I guess the argument is moot.

Ignoring IBM is trying to sell hardware and services here, you quote everything in my post except "I mean its not like it could have anything to do with the fact the companies have two different business models right?"

N3W: I notice you left out this part.. could have anything to do with the fact the companies have two different business models right? IBM is trying to sell iron, period...

This is your second chance to address this, lets see what you do

SWC: And I don't really concern myself with different business models. Doesn't matter, they are doing something that I, and others, object to.

Of course why would you, just like you consider Linux to have pitiful market penetration because you ignore the more that 20% market share it has in other places you choose the easiest way to paint someone as "bad" and someone as "good"

Now in response to my "I notice you left out this part.. could have anything to do with the fact the companies have two different business models right? IBM is trying to sell iron, period..." GE ask

GE: How do you seel iron? One of IBM's patents? Can I have it for free?

SWC: How do you seel iron? One of IBM's patents? Can I have it for free?

Note: Please show me where IBM is en mas giving away hardware to foreign nations...

GE: Good line, too bad it seems true. IBM wants us all to move to what they call BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) if we want a job.

SWC: Well lucky for us, that evil satanic company, Microsoft, does not have this policy. I don't think I would do too well in Russia.

You brought it back around to (I thought) Jobs in the US (notice GE said "if we want a job"

To which I point out MS is busy itself starting to outsource work and build very large campuses in Chine...

Nice long post.  But it doesn't change things.  You could write "War and peace", if it'll fit here, and the point is still not on target.
