No. A decorated Air Force officer who's a crook is still a crook.

There are plenty here who will say "yes," given those who rushed to defend Randy Cunningham from his corruption charges....

A crime is a crime. I don't see what his combat record has to do with anything? It should just mean that he will have better stories to share with his fellow inmates when he is in the pokey.

I believe such things are considered during sentencing.

It's not either-or.

You can honor someone's military service while condemning corruption or criminal action. Praise what is good, criticize what is bad.

The weirdos with Cunningham were the ones who insisted his ethical problems negated his military service. Sorry buckos, you can't erase history like that.

"An Air Force officer accused of vandalizing bumper stickers that support President Bush is a decorated combat veteran and the charges against him should "viewed in that context," his lawyer said Tuesday." That is one lame defense. Who is his laywer?

WHat's he doing? Claiming PTSD, or something?

Who said that? Cunningham is a crook who was also a great figter pilot. Who said that calling him on his corruption now negates anything he ever did in the past? That doesn't make any sense.

I voted no, and I'll bet most conservatives will. We respect the law.

I voted NO --because as a Crazy Freaki' Vietam(era)Vet I know several Vets who have either served time in prison-or are vets behind bars. Their service record did NOT justify
the actions that landed them behind bars. There are more
matur eways to express ones political views than juvinile
petty vandalism. I would have more respect for this combat
vet if he were man enough to discuss his anti-Bush views
man to man-or man to woman- or petty vandal to law abiding
citizen.

The article seems to suggest that his record is being raised as a defense against the charge.

His record is not a defense against the charge. What is far more likely is that his record will be raised in "extenuation and mitigation" during the sentencing phase. In other words, once he either pleads or is found guilty, his record will be brought in by the defense as a reason why his sentence should be something other than the maximum allowed by law.

Seeing as the liberal hippie scum probably wouldn't ever get this far for the same dumb incident, I'd cut him some slack. Sure, it's vandalism, and the law is the law, but how many scumbag Seattle G-8 Summit property destroyers ever saw charges?

I am the Election Judge for my heavily Republican area and during the last election one of the few Democrats in our area I assume keyed my car. I hate this behavior.
