Rummy traps people, especially reporters, by not going into a lot of detail. At this time, he's only verifying FACT ONE: The commissioners were briefed about Able Danger.
Now the media will go diving to their sources for info and Rummy winds up knowing more than what he started with simply by reading the Newspapers.
