Rumsfeld says that 9/11 Commission briefed about Able Danger
FNC | August 23, 2005 | FNC

Posted on 08/23/2005 10:51:56 AM PDT by Peach

Rumsfeld is having a press conference. Under the Fox News Alert the big banner read:

Rumsfeld says that Able Danger briefed the 9/11 Commission.

Did anyone hear his remarks on this matter; all I've seen is the banner.

"Gee....Wonder what Hillary is thinking today?" I don't know, but I bet there is a special dry wall team on stand by ready to remove embedded objects at a moments notice. The SS guys are likely to be wearing mouth guards and protective cups.

Well, it's really not that hard to understand. President Bush loves this country. To come out and announce that Clinton knew about this anad allowed it to happen would cause the following reactions:

1. Rabid fury by Republicans.

2. Disbelief by democrats, followed by fury at Republicans.

3. Absolute mayhem in Congress.

4. Media openly undermining the currrent administration.

5. Lowered morale in the troops.

6.Undermining our government abroad.Foreiign governments would take the side of CLinton.)

He says nothing because he doesn't want to see another civil war in this country.

They're dripping it out on purpose...it keeps the story alive....each new player, voice...adds a new dimension..and also it's a variant of the old perjury trap..If the bad guys say something not true, then bam..the fact that Gorelick has been mute is, IMHO,proof positive that something BIG is up..

Pure speculation but...I keep wondering if Sandy Berger got a 'wrist slap' in exchange for fessing up about his motives in stealing and destroying documents...like maybe his action was the Clintonian link between the wall memo and the Atta chart...

if GW and Rove are as smart as we keep thinking they are, wouldn't it be simply masterful if they have begun letting the Able Danger facts leak out so that by the time Hillary's race on 2006 should be kicking into gear we have a Senate Committee investigating the 9/11 Commission's omissions which reveal some Clintonian fingerprints?

I keep thinking that someone once said that the USA played baseball while the Soviet Union played chess and that in order to defeat them we needed to slow down, see the big picture, and strategize a long term game plan. Maybe the Republicans have held their fire until all the dominoes are in place and what we are seeing is the beginning of the collapse of the Clinton wall of lies.

Please God let the truth about the Clinton mishandling of national security be revealed to all Americans or else we'll need another 9/11 to wake people up. When I saw that 2nd plane hit the WTC I knew immediately that it was Osama bin Laden...not because I'm a genius but because I read Free Republic every day...most Americans rely on the MSM for news and all they get is fluff and slanted stories...I hold the MSM more responsible for 9/11 since they had access to the same information I did, surely, and chose to remain ignorant and let Bill Clinton skate in exchange for access to DC cocktail parties and feeling important. They only care about dead soldiers after it's too late.

It could be if it was done to cover up information vital to this investigation.

That's why she was a member of the panel as opposed to a witness for the panel.

I think there's a civil war going on over at DOD.

And at State

And at the CIA

What did Lincoln say about a house divided?

I am curious as to why we haven't heard ONE WORD from Janet Reno or Louis Freeh.

Reno was a figurehead and worthless. Freeh, him I can't figure out.

Able Danger was disbanded before Bush took Office. People died.

I'm going from pure memory but I thought Shaffer said that Able Danger broke up four months before 9/11. He wanted to know why it was disbanded.

In an interview With the Lt. Col., on Fox's Dayside on Friday (I believe it was Friday) he mentioned that he was working in the Pent. and they were always having to move data from Tampa and they decided to transfere it all to the Pent.. I'm sure that the data in Tampa was coming from CENTCOM and Able Danger was under CENTCOM.

Vice Adm. Thomas Wilson was in Command of the DIA during this period. They also suppressed info that could have prevented the USS Cole attack. From my research:

Vice Adm. Thomas Wilson, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, wrote to all DIA personnel this week to explain the protest resignation of a DIA analyst in October. The analyst, Kie Fallis, quit the day after the USS Cole was attacked by suicide bombers in Aden, Yemen. Mr. Fallis charged that a report he had written on the threat of a terrorist attack in Yemen was suppressed by senior DIA officials.

Mr. Fallis' resignation letter stated that he had "significant analytic differences" with DIA superiors over a terrorist threat assessment produced in June.

U.S. intelligence officials said there were warnings, but they arrived too late. The National Security Agency issued a report shortly after the Cole was bombed warning of attacks in the region —too late to be useful.

Adm. Wilson said he asked the Pentagon inspector general (IG) to investigate Mr. Fallis' charges. In an awkwardly worded statement, the three-star admiral said on Wednesday the IG "found no evidence to support the public perception that information warning of an attack on Cole was suppressed, ignored or even available in DIA." What about the private perception?

The admiral's statement drew smirks from several intelligence officials. It relied on a dodge often used by intelligence analysts to dismiss unwelcome information. Saying there is "no evidence" —like that presented to a court of law — is often used to mask the fact there is lots of intelligence to the contrary that spooks would rather not talk about in public.

Source

Mr. Fallis also uncovered terrorist info related to 9/11:

One piece of the puzzle that Mr. Fallis uncovered was an intelligence report about a secret meeting of al Qaeda terrorists in a condominium complex in Malaysia in January 2000.

Information obtained after September 11 identified two of them as Khalid al-Midhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, who would be on American Airlines Flight 77 when it crashed into the Pentagon. They met with a former Malaysian army captain, Yazi Sufaat, described by Malaysian authorities as a key link in Southeast Asia for al Qaeda, who later would be tied to the bombing of the Cole.

What alarmed U.S. intelligence at the time was that Malaysian security officials traced the men to the Iranian Embassy there, where they spent the night.

Now...the MSM keeps citing defense lawyers as the culprit...however...

Shaffer says he was trying to broker a connection between SOCOM and the FBI. Shaffer told Spencer that one reason that Able Danger got denied permission to brief the FBI on their findings was that there was a fear not just among Pentagon lawyers but among Special Ops command that if things went badly with any FBI operation to take out the al Qaeda cells they had identified, it would be “another Waco." [There's the Waco comment]

Spencer says, “He didn’t blame the DoD lawyers so much, but the command” (for blocking the team from sharing their findings with the FBI). “Not Schoomaker…. It rose to the level of a 2-star, 3-star general,” who he didn’t name...

VADM Wilson was a Three Star General.

And I think we're approaching double digits of excuses by the 9/11 Commission :-)

Slade Gorton was on last night defending GoreLick, George Wallace was right when he said there is not a dimes wort of difference in the parties.

This constant love fest/coverup by members of both parties is disgusting.
