Courageous mother did not deserve criticism
Columbus Dispatch ^ | Tuesday, August 23, 2005 | CINDY WESTLING

Posted on 08/23/2005 4:51:15 AM PDT by Loyal Buckeye

Fox News has hit a new low. I didn’t think it was possible. To insinuate that a grieving mother is a communist, a wacko or has a political agenda just shows how evil this cable network is.

Cindy Sheehan is a hero who has every right to demand answers to why her son and so many other Americans lost their lives for a lie. Our servicemen pledge to serve and defend our nation.

They do so out of a sense of moral obligation and a love for this country. Leaders of this administration and especially President Bush have shown time and again that they view themselves as above reproach. Our soldiers’ lives and dedication are expendable.

That Bush, who presents himself as a man of faith, can’t reach out to a fellow human as a good Christian, tells me that he is no Christian. God help us all.

The media wants to revise a 60s/70s style anti-war movement and their efforts are failing. They need to be held accountable for their outrageous actions.

As for Casey, I was very happy to see the military honor this fine young man in a way that is appropriate to both his sacifice and his personality. As for his mother, right, didn't I say I wasn't going to go there? It will be difficult, but with Casey's help.

As a resident of central ohio (where I live isn't Columbus...yet), I can safely tell you that this article/editorial/whine piece is nothing new for the Dispatch. After all, they also own a local TV network that is the CBS affiliate, so you can see they get their lying ability inherently. In regards to Columbus being conservative, those who typically work in Columbus are conservative, the problem is they typically don't live IN Columbus, they live in the many suburbs. Notice in the Election maps, most every county (if not every county) surrounding Columbus is BRIGHT RED. Columbus has a Democratic mayor (who is totally worthless by the way), and routinely votes to the blue. The only thing conservative in Columbus is the State House, because of all of us Conservatives who make up the REST of the State. Columbus is also one of the most retailed cities on the face of the planet (retail shops per capita), so its all about vanity and such, it should come as no surprise that Columbus is so Blue.

No lie there.

Couple years back, the Dispatch changed editors. The new guy, Hallet, wrote an intro describing himself as neither left nor right (balanced, don't you know), then proceeded to expound on a list of things that he, as the new editor, would be focused on, that could have been a sheet of DNC talking points.

The majority of Ohio is Middle-Right, but a couple of the larger population centers (Columbus and Cleveland, for example) make Howie Dean look moderate.

Heck I LIVE in Columbus. Our mayor is Mike (I'm not in charge of investigations into sexual assaults at local schools) Coleman, fer crying out loud.

Unfortunately, the middle-right mindset tends to get us RINOs for office (Taft, DeWine and Voinovich).

I'm just hoping and praying that Blackwell can pull off his bid for Governor. He seems like the real deal.

I know. I am getting in before the zot. Isn't it amazing how these libs can come over here, talk about "swift-boating Cindy Sheehan" red"slave state" values, neo-cons, denigrate Fox, denigrate the "extremist" fringe they find here, call for the president to send his daughters to war, and somehow think that calling themselves a conservative, TWICE, will fool us?

It's sort of like Hillary and Dean insisting they ARE Christians.

I love it!

"As for his mother...."

I really believe if she was asked about Casey's views or asked to give examples of how she thinks he was "brainwashed" it just might jolt her out of her bitterness.

Cindy Sheehan has disgraced the memory of her son and all the values he stood for.

I think Cindy Sheehan has disgraced herself as a person and as a mother. Casey Sheehan earned the right to have his memory honored, and we shouldn't let that dingbat, who calls herself a mother, cast any reflections on the memory a young man who gave his life for his/our country. She needs to be exposed for what she is, and it is not a grieving Mother...it is, that she is nothing more than a left-wing, filthy-mouthed, lying, rabid activist!

Ahh, but Grasshopper, old proverb say, one bad apple spoils the whole bunch.

Another say, we are the company we keep.

Now Grasshopper, proverbs aren't absolute laws. But they are general truths where much knowledge can be learned.

The “Gold-Star” mothers of Iraq will tell you they’re doing worse now than under Saddam.

After all, they've all done two tours of duty themselves, so who would know better than them? Hey, why don't we give over all foreign policy to the Gold Star Moms?

To insinuate that a grieving mother is a communist, a wacko or has a political agenda just shows how evil this cable network is.

To insinuate that a wacko communist is a grieving mother is a leftist inspired distortion of fact. (It also depends on the meaning of the word "grieving".)

Yeah I think that the President's Daughters and Congressmen's children should go over to Iraq too, maybe when they are kidnapped and held hostage our entire government can come to a screechig halt...

I thought liberals were supposed to be the "intellectual elite." Apparently simple logic isn't a requirement.

With such powerful minds like this, we need not conduct any further research with anything, simply ask these wisemen their opinion.

The "Gold-Star" moms of Iraq lost sons in war, too.

And that grants them special insight into the situation on the ground over there? What a shame the mothers of America weren't running the European Theatre in WWII instead of Eisenhower. I bet they'd have had that bad boy all wrapped up in six weeks flat.

OH!
I see.
Same way in Detroit. The city proper is blue, the surrounding counties (where most people live) are red.

Go figure.

I guess that the mods have no tolerance for barking moonbats.

Typical of the left - "we can say what we want to, but you can't".

What's worse, they've codified it and use it to regularly assail every non-Leftists' First Amendment rights.

It's called "Political Correctness." It was started in the Soviet Union and imported to the U.S. by the Democrats.
