If we can convince the great mass of Christians to adopt our vision of Christ as a first century touchy feely hippy who came to be tolerant and create welfare programs than I think we'll have this culture war won.

Yeah, that's sure to work. </sarcasm>

Please, don't anyone sell them a clue.

Remember the Screwtape letters? They were letters from a demon to his nephew about how to corrupt the person the nephew was assigned. Written by CS Lewis to point about truths about the Christian walk and how we can be pulled off the right track.

This looks to be written in that spirit.

Maybe it was supposed to be sarcastic, but it's actually what they believe. The author is in a Twilight Zone where it's impossible to tell sarcasm from reality.

"Feed a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime."

Give a democrat a Welfare check, and she'll be back for another one every month. Tell a democrat to get a job, and she'll be able to pay for her own food for life.

Author's Note: The following is a continuation of a series I wrote from May, 2003-November, 2004. More information is available at http://www.adamsweb.us/screwtape.html. The first 22 Screwtape Reports, along with 10 never before published reports will be released in book form shortly.

I'm not sure either, but the DUmmies believe they can pull it off. They want to be known as the "Moral Party."

Thus, we can shift Christian concern away from issues like abortion and gay marriage to issues such as reducing poverty through government programs and more money for schools, because that is what Jesus would want.

The person who wrote that was a lying scum,,,,he will burn in hell.

Tolerant, huh? Like learning to accept money changers in the temple? Like saying that sin is bad, but really OK? Like accepting the hypocrisy of a lot of the Pharisees? No, Jesus clearly had a strong aversion to this stuff. He is quite intolerant about a lot of stuff, and has the right to be so. I predict this writer will remain clueless.

It's psudo sarcasm. It attempts to get into the head of the liberal. There was a thread here about a real minister trying to do basically the same thing. I'll see if I can find it.

The original Screwtape letters, by C.S. Lewis, was written in a similar fashion, getting into the head of deamons to expose their tactics of spiritual warfare.

I gave a democrat friend of mine a copy of cs lewis's "The Screwtape Letters" to read and he liked the witty sarcasm and satire of the book.

I followed up with cs lewis's "Mere Christianity" and he didn't like it at all, in fact, I think it scared him.

If you don't believe that Jesus was God incarnate, then you don't have the true image of Him regardless of where you put Him in the political spectrum.

""Jesus wouldn't launch a war for oil against the Iraqi people. Jesus wouldn't have appointed Alberto Gonzalez Attorney General. Jesus would spend more government money on the poor. Jesus would want everyone to have free health care. Jesus wouldn't back a Constitutional Amendment banning Flag Burning."

What Jesus DID say was 'Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasars. Render unto God that which is Gods"

Jesus would not have interferred with the present day government anymore than he did back then.
