A prominent Republican senator and a possible presidential candidate in 2008 said on Sunday that the war in Iraq destabilized the Middle East, and is looking more like the Vietnam conflict, Reuters news agency reported.
"What I think the White House does not yet understand and some of my colleagues, is the dam has broken on this (Iraq) policy," said Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel, a top member of the Foreign Relations Committee and a Vietnam War veteran.
Hagel also said that there are many similarities between the Iraq war and the U.S.'s involvement in Vietnam. "We are locked into a bogged down problem not unsimilar or dissimilar to where we were in Vietnam. The longer we stay the more problems we are going to have," he said on This Week on ABC.

When you've made Al Jazeera, you have screwed up somewhere.
If you get someone to post the email addresses I'll join you.

Oh, and Cindy make Al Jazeera for the fourteenth time also:

You wouldn't think they have a slow news cycle there...
Locking up the Wahabbi voting bloc might not be the crucial key to the 2008 Republican nomination?
Well, I won't vote for him...
Inept, incompetant, or just stupid. You decide. Opinions are fine, but at some point keep yer yap shut. Anybody that is married knows better!
You must be very proud to have been quoted by Al Jazeera. Go ahead and run for the presidency, I dare you.
Yours in disgust,
sofaman
Well, way to go, Senator Hagel. You're a star on Al Jazeera.
Best thing we can do is encourage hagel to run so we can get him out of the senate and hopefully johanns can run for his seat in 08.
We should send hagel e-mails saying how we need his voice in the white house.
Having Hagel run will be so great on so many fronts.
We can attack him for his remarks, show others his style doesn't work, get him out of the senate, get a real republican in his senate seat.
Iraq has fewer jungles than Vietnam.
End of story.
Stay on their A$$3$ about this. Don't let up!

In short this Senator is regressing, grasping at straws, slipping down the slope towards defeat.
When a nation is at war, it's self reflecting needs a good (realistic) perception of what the war is about. If there is a real war (meaningful reason for it), take the battle _to_ the enemy to protect the people from fights in their own towns.
That Cindy article was written by one Monica Benderman:
"Monica Benderman is the wife of Sgt. Kevin Benderman who was recently sentenced to 15 months confinement for the charge of Missing Movement. Amnesty International has issued an urgent appeal for Kevins immediate release, and declared him a Prisoner of Conscience."

I'm curious...what is the charge of "Missing Movement?" Was he AWOL?
I think Chuck Hagel is the most frequently quoted Senator by al Jazeera.
THIS GUY WILL NEVER BE THE NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT...
WHY? HE ALSO LIKES THE VIETNAM SCHTICK AS ONE OF HIS
QUALIFICATIONS...SOMEONE ELSE JUST TRIED THAT IN '04..
AND HE IS STILL A SENATOR...LIKE HAGEL, THE HAGGLER, IS..NOW AND UNTIL HE RUNS AGAIN.. Jake
the only similarity I see that is even worth discussing is the similar America-hating actions here in the US by the lefties and other chronic malcontents.....we are now at approximately the point of the contrived aftermath of Tet 68 when the mauling we put on the NVN/VC was represented as some major loss.......Hagel is a traitorous political whore who has now openly placed all his eggs in the lefties basket. He might as well hook up with Cindy Sheehan.
(BTW, the real Camp Casey is 30 miles north of ui-jung-bu on the MSR, and 20 miles south of toko-ri bridge)
