OK guest-worker plan It's overdue for Congress to rescue the borders from further chaos.
Orlando Sentinel ^ | August 22, 2005 | Editorial

...Clearly, it is past time for Congress to fix this country's broken immigration system.

...Yet the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants come north in search of work and a better life for their families. They fill low-wage jobs shunned by Americans and help keep the economy humming. Immigration quotas are much too low for them to enter lawfully.

Congress needs to create a broader legal channel for such immigrants. Doing so would let law-enforcement agencies target their limited resources on stopping terrorists and other hardcore criminals at the border.

...Congress needs to work out the details -- so that security can be enhanced, the needs of the economy can be met, and the rule of law can be restored along the border.

TO ALL:

Below is a link to documents and speeches by our founders on immigration.
Our founders were very concerned that the quantity of immigrants should be kept low enough to encourage assimilation.

http://www.vindicatingthefounders.com/library/index.asp?category=7

We are seeing that problem with the new immigrants (legal and illegal) from Mexico.

Here is the link to Thomas Jefferson's 1787 "Notes on the State of Virginia"
RE: The number of its inhabitants?

http://www.vindicatingthefounders.com/library/index.asp?document=37

[snip] "...Every species of government has its specific principles. Ours perhaps are more peculiar than those of any other in the universe. It is a composition of the freest principles of the English constitution, with others derived from natural right and natural reason.

To these nothing can be more opposed than the maxims of absolute monarchies. Yet, from such, we are to expect the greatest number of emigrants.

They will bring with them the principles of the governments they leave, imbibed in their early youth; or, if able to throw them off, it will be in exchange for an unbounded licentiousness, passing, as is usual, from one extreme to another.

It would be a miracle were they to stop precisely at the point of temperate liberty. These principles, with their language, they will transmit to their children.

In proportion to their numbers, they will share with us the legislation. They will infuse into it their spirit, warp and bias its direction, and render it a heterogeneous, incoherent, distracted mass.

I may appeal to experience, during the present contest, for a verification of these conjectures. But, if they be not certain in event, are they not possible, are they not probable?

Is it not safer to wait with patience 27 years and three months longer, for the attainment of any degree of population desired, or expected? May not our government be more homogeneous, more peaceable, more durable?

Suppose 20 millions of republican Americans thrown all of a sudden into France, what would be the condition of that kingdom? If it would be more turbulent, less happy, less strong, we may believe that the addition of half a million of foreigners to our present numbers would produce a similar effect here..." ~ Thomas Jefferson

Build this first to stop the flow, deport all those here ILLEGALLY, punish/fine those who were hiring them, and put those with continued job prospects on a fast-track guest worker visa system ($1K/visa) with biometric screening and ID cards.

That is the Buchanan Wall. It was a good idea then and a good idea now. Give credit where credit is due.

What bothers me is the "low wage jobs". Maybe we should be looking in why in the richest Country in the world still have low wage jobs. I know, I've heard all the crap about why, but ask yourself if is reasonable to ask a person to work for wages that cannot support even the basic necessities of life. When Social Security and the various benefits one can get from each State is more that the wage on some jobs, makes most intelligent persons wonder where we have been, asleep?

Deploying troops to the southern border would be a better idea.

Good morning, rod.

Hey, have you found out how this stuff actually affects the hardworking immigrants since you wrote this post? Or are they still not important enough for you to lose sleep over?

Anytime we have "illegal aliens" from Mexico attempting to flag down people from street corners seeking work we have too damn many "illegal aliens".

Gees you make me feel bad never earned more than 40k a year.

Consider my self well off, travel all over the world and met interesting people some shot at me and I shot at some, what did I* do you ask, just your basic solider.

Now retired and living on a farm.

Life is great in this country if you know how to work it.

Closed the border now, establish elis island clearing centers, check for diseases, etc, biometrics and send the illegals back to country of origin.

Instead of a wall a canal from the gulf of mexico to the pacific, to aid in movement of war ships and commerce.

BS they have driven the wages and standard of living down, The OBL have different motives:
Some just want to make a quick buck by using slave labor
Some are willing to speed their country on the way to CW2 so that they don't have to mow their own lawn, ect
Some hate the US and freedom and want to eliminate the middle class so that the US is just another thrid world sH@Thole

I would like to your list of solutions--the idea of a baby born of illegals in the US automatically becomes a US citizen.

I think we should not be so quick to say no IF (and this is a big IF) we can link it to REAL border security.

IE building an israel style fence along the all the borders for expanding the current temp worker program.

We can ensure the guest worker visas are NONconvertable.

Since we are having a discussion about immigration then lets have a DISUSSION!

Turn the tables so to speak.

Please someone tell me why we need a single illegal immigrant, and how it benefit's the USA. I am not being sarcastic I want the "undocumented worker" fan club to give me one reason why having illegal aliens residing in the USA is a good thing. Furthermore please advise me how rewarding people who broke the law to enter helps the USA's interests
