ZAMBEZI Oil Transport (ZOT) has ordered 10 million litres of diesel to mitigate the shortage of the commodity on the market.
ZOT managing director Obson Mulanji said 50 trucks have already been loaded between 32,000 and 33,000 litres of diesel.
Mulanji said his company started receiving the first consignment on Friday adding that on the same day, it gave out about 325,000 litres of diesel.
"Today we have given out 325,000 litres and tomorrow (Sunday) we expect to receive 110,000 litres of diesel," he said.
He said the other twelve trucks are already in Nakonde heading for Ndola carrying about 370,000 litres of diesel.
Mulanji expressed hope that the shortage of diesel might come to an end especially with the arrival of more diesel trucks.
Meanwhile, the flow of diesel in most Copperbelt towns has been stable even although some filling stations had only been selling the commodity to selected customers in fear that they might run out of the commodity.
Fuel attendants in some filling stations said they were only selling the commodity to account holders.
In Chingola, Luanshya, Kitwe and Ndola, the flow of diesel has been quiet stable.
"We have never had a serious problem concerning the availability of diesel like our colleagues in Lusaka," said one of the motorists Elvis Chibwe of Chingola.
Chibwe hoped that the situation would soon normalise and implored government to work around the clock in ensuring that the shortage of diesel in some towns is addressed quickly.
