Bomb Threat in Crawford
Powerline ^

Posted on 08/21/2005 2:05:39 PM PDT by Republican Red

Our correspondent Gene Allen reports that just a few minutes ago, an unidentified man telephoned the Yellow Rose Gift Shop in Crawford, Texas and said, "Your shop is going up in smoke, you better get out now." Law enforcement is on the scene.

Gene describes the Yellow Rose as "a pro-Bush gift shop with a Ten Commandments monument out front. It is located across the street from the Coffee Station, down the street from the Crawford Peace House."

I don't suppose any of those peace-loving folks would have anything to do with a bomb threat.

The '60s "peace and love" included the Weathermen, the SDS, and the Black Panthers. Check them out, and this is no real surprise.

Really, she's practically stalking the President!!

I wonder how long the Kerry’s would tolerate a camp set up outside their farm in Sewickley, PA where people were requesting that Terazzza come out and meet with them to discuss why her Heinz Foundation continues to support and contribute money to terrorist organizations, anti-war organizations, anti-American groups, and Al-Queda supporters who kill Americans?

Or, request John Kerry meet with them to discuss his Congressional testimony and lies that threatened the lives of our service members in Viet Nam, and the meetings he had with Vietnamese leaders, and his phony purple heart injuries, etc.

I am sure the police would have removed such groups on the grounds they were stalking and invading the privacy of the Kerry’s. Yet Cindy Sheehan and her supporters get continued coverage and sympathy from more anti-war, anti-administration, anti-American leftist groups and they have not been removed.

And, if that happened there would be that worn out old cry about Free Speech rights.

It is all nauseating. I also wonder, will Cindy Sheehan next set up camp outside the gates of heaven and want to blame God because he took her son’s life? Not Bush.

There is, and always has been, an undercurrent in the far-left, anti-war, anti-American movement that is violent. Give our peace a chance...or we will blow you up and slaughter you.

Guess that's why Islam's no biggie for them - birds of a feather!

I remember the peaceniks well. They were as violent as anyone else (and more violent than most) toward the 'pigs' as they liked to call our police forces.

My husband also worked for the postal service (for 32 years). He was able to retire about 12 years ago, at the age of 57) when they offered an early out. He was very devoted to them. (My blood sugar also goes high but not because of reading sugar. My problem is eating sugar (carbs). S'no fun.)

that's right. When our dear military men/women came back from Vietnam, feces was thrown at them. It still disgusts me.

I'm not sure this was ever reported by the MSM. I've not searched for reports.... The following is from the online updates by the local weekly, The Lonestar Iconoclast, which made this mention yesterday afternoon.

Bomb Threat In Crawford

CRAWFORD - The Yellow Rose souvenir store in Crawford received a phone call between 3:30 and 4 p.m. on Sunday with the male voice claiming, "We're going to blow you up," said law enforcement authorities, who noted that a store employee received the call.

The building was evacuated immediately and searched by authorities who said that they found nothing.

At this hour, the store is closed.

According to Bill Johnson, owner, "We're still here. There are nuts everywhere."

Adjacent to the Yellow Rose is an area designated as a meeting site for supporters of the war in Iraq.

The "peace and love" radicals of the 1960s shot police, blew up their cars, burned down a "capitalist" food booth at the original Woodstock, burned down armories, ransacked recruiting offices, and generally caused havoc and mayhem. Don't forget that Kerry's veterans group plotted to assassinate elected congressmen.

It was not and IS not a peace movement. It is an anti-American war movement. They are decidedly pro-Palestinian war.

Good read. In-depth look at the 60's "peace movement".

I was a kid in Chicago during the 60's and remember how drug-crazed and violent that era was. Buckley's "Firing Line" was a source of sanity back then.

The leftist marketing strategy is very devious. During Vietnam, one of their tactics was to encourage draftees to go AWOL. When a soldier refused to desert, he would be "welcomed" home to jeers and taunts and derision. The goal was to demean one soldier and get it publicized so it would demoraize others.

They've had to change tactics for the WOT. With no draft, the left is saying the all volunteer military was "lied to", "brainwashed", "dying for nothing".

The irony about this is how restrained so many of the soldiers are in responding to these slams. I suspect they rarely respond because they are too busy with the mission at hand.....also because they are told when they are sworn into service that respect for individual rights and for the Commander in Chief is required, it is the premise of freedom and the office of the president, not the individual that they must defend.

That's why so many here step forward to respond for them, "to watch their back".

Well, obviously they didn't report it at all here in Texas. This is the first I've heard of it as I peruse FR after an internet-free weekend.

Yes, but isn't it a pitiful commentary on their former bad boy status that they threaten gift shops

This is no different than the way they acted in the '60s. "Shut it down (the campus), or we'll burn it down" was how one anti-war type put it on my campus. He tried too. However all he managed to do was scorch the carpet in the Student Union. Others were more "successful", U. Michigan Computer center, IIRC, was bombed in an incident that killed at least one student.

Those "visualize whirrled peas" protestors will just say "it was a JOKE! Can't you people take a joke?" as they always do.

Except when they also set a real bomb, then it's a "strike for peace and justice". Or for Allah, take your pick.

Things are good for them, it's the Bush camp that seems to be nervously squirming here. Let's see what happens next."

Come Saturday, they may be the ones squirming. But I doubt it, you have to look beyond the end of your nose to see the Juggernaut coming.

I'd believe a lot of things about Sheehan. But she doesn't strike me as the type to kill.

But some of the radicals she's surrounded herself with, or that just show up uninvited, may be.
