I'll take it. Have her send it to Chicago and we'll put it next to the submarine.

Would it fit through the locks that are present on the route from the Atlantic?

Send her to Los Angeles. We already have the Queen Mary. It would make a fine addition to the tour.

Funny the only Warship I have ever been on other that the Eagle was the U505, but I still think it should be moored in Davenport, on the Mississippi.

Is DiFi going to pay back the $3,000,000 the government spent? She's rich she can afford it.

I'm sure they won't mind if I shun San Francisco.

If her 16"ers are working, have her fire a salute into FRUITLOOP City on her way out.

Probably not, but I bet Durbin could get some pork to widen the locks on the St Lawrence Seaway and at Sault St. Marie. That would be Kewllll.

This is a great development.

Why would America want an honorable and mighty battleship like the U.S.S. Iowa permanently anchored near America's anal orifice, aka the City of Sanfrancrisco?

The U.S. Navy should have nothing more to do with ANYTHING within the city limits of SF.

What a bunch of fools! Istead of seeing it for a revenue generating attraction from WWII, they use the Iraq war as justification not to have it. Sorry, but the liberal cesspool of San Francisco (hippies, gay bathhouses) aren't the tourist attractions of normal people.

Agreed, but very, very sad.

San Francisco still puts on its traditional Fleet Week (Columbus Day weekend). It still has its memorial to the U.S.S. San Francisco (destroyed in WWII). We had the Blue Angels visit up until last year. One year I got to see the big black Stealth plane -- absoLUTEly amazing.

Because of the city's and bay area's anti-military, anti-American, anti-everything decent politics of the last 40 years, there are no more military bases in the bay area....with a loss of TENS OF THOUSANDS of blue collar jobs.

All very sad for a FORMER traditional, blue-collar, pro-American, all-American city.
Breaks my heart.

P.S. The only consolation is that San Francisco is now the NINTH most liberal city in the country, not the FIRST.
Detroit has that, um, honor.

Promise the city supervisors that deck 3 would be set aside for a "pot club" and deck 4 would be used for a gay bath and I'm sure they would get over their objection to it in their bay.

Could always send it over to Southampton! Even the average Brit has more support for America than a resident of San Delerium! It's not like we get any boats in this city anymore..

And they wonder why Pres. Bush won't go to San Francisco. San Francisco = clueless idiots.

It's a loss for S.F. I was stationed on the Wisconsin for two years. They are Beautiful ships and unlike any ever made. Wonderful bleached decks and brass as far as the eye can see.

...no problem, they shouldn't have the traditional Fleet Week anymore. When the locals complain about the loss of income..point to the Mayor (with the appropriate finger)
