Arrest of an Iraqi suspect in the attack with the rockets of Aqaba

AMMAN - an Iraqi, one of the four suspects sought for the attacks with the rocket of Aqaba (southern), was stopped Saturday evening in Amman, indicated to AFP a sedentary source.

"the forces of safety stopped the Iraqi suspect whereas it drove its car", the sedentary source under cover of anonymity indicated.

The source did not specify the place of the arrest.

Friday morning, two rockets of the Katioucha type were drawn since a cargo warehouse from Aqaba where two ships of the American navy wet which were not touched and installed at once. A Jordanian soldier was killed and another casualty by the shootings.

A third rocket was drawn without making victim on the seaside resort of Eilat, with the southern of Israel, distant point of a few tens of meters only of Aqaba.

The Jordanian authorities affirmed Friday that the rockets had been stored in a deposit rented by "four Egyptians and Iraqis" a few days ago and a vast operation of raking continued with Aqaba to find the suspects.

Two popular districts of Aqaba, Al-Shallaleh and Al-Khazaneh, were encircled Saturday evening by the police force, indicated to AFP witnesses.

Moreover, the forces of safety raked the beaches of Aqaba in the search of explosives, brought back these witnesses.

Stoppings of the army and police force were installed with the entries and the exit of Aqaba. The vehicles were excavated and certain people were intercepted and questioned at the edge of the road, according to a correspondent of AFP on the spot.

Twelve stoppings of the forces of safety were set up on the 350 km separating Aqaba from the capital, Amman. In the capital even, some points of control made their appearance in the evening.

"Where'd he get the rockets?"

Those things are pretty easy to build.

Road blocks, checkpoints and car searches. Clear there are terrorists cells within Jordan. Wonder how they sneaked the rockets past the security at the ports? Security must be pretty lax there.

leaving Iraq for Amman, Jordan I was stopped at at least five checkpoints. The closer we got to Amman the less of them we ran into. Even though I liked my stay in Amman I very seldom went out of the hotel alone, or let the hotel staff know where I was going. And I always took a taxi at the hotel to my destination and back, that way if I came up missing investigators had a point to start looking for me.

Americans are safer in some Muslim countries in the area than others. But should always assume there are people in that country who are terrorists or have terrorists ties.
