Many commentators have written about the protesting, anti-war mother who has decided to camp outside the Presidents Crawford ranch and create a publicity spectacle for herself and the anti-war movement by exploiting the death of her son, Casey, in Iraq.
Too many of those same commentators seem to feel the need to qualify their essays by explaining how they understand the pain of the grieving mother. Yet, Cindy Sheehans actions do not mesh with those of a grieving mother but those of an anti-war activist, so qualifying what she is doing only aids-and-abets her callous display self-serving emotionalism at the expense of her sons heroic memorial.
Putting aside any skittish reactionism, would a mother wrought with pain over the death of her son truly be able to make the following comment? "You get America out of Iraq and Israel out of Palestine and you'll stop the terrorism," Sheehan declared while never once explaining just exactly how those two situations would actually end terrorism.
Okay, maybe shes just not thinking clearly with all that emotional grief shes dealing with as she smiles for the cameras and writes her daily blogs for tragedy-monger and Canada-loving, bash-America king Michael Moores website.
But then, she also uses the memory of her son in an attempt to go on a tax revolt, "My son was killed in 2004. I am not paying my taxes for 2004. You killed my son, George Bush, and I don't owe you a penny...you give my son back and I'll pay my taxes. Come after me (for back taxes) and we'll put this war on trial."
Shouldnt someone tell Ms. Sheehan that President Bush doesnt run the IRS and what exactly does the death of her son have to do with her not wanting to pay taxes? There are millions of Americans who lost loved ones in situations they felt were undue, but they still paid their taxes including the death tax.
Eventually, the 48-year-old California anti-war protestor shows her true colors when she spews irrational vitriol and contempt at the President. "And now I'm going to use another 'I' word - impeachment - because we cannot have these people pardoned. They need to be tried on war crimes and go to jail."
You see, for this grieving mother, the war criminals are the members of the American government, led by President Bush, of which her son was once proudly a volunteer participant and they are the ones responsible for the death of her son, not the actual terrorists, cowardly killing people with homicide bombs.
According to Sheehan, all that impeachment and war crimes rhetoric could be laid to rest if President Bush would just meet with her for ten minutes... the elitist media pleads with the President every day, to just give Ms. Sheehan a ten minute meeting... even Democrat National Committee chairman Howard Dean said, "I think the president should meet with any parent who has sacrificed their son or daughter for the defense of the United States of America.
Sacrificed their son or daughter? Could someone please tell Howie to lay off the glue for just one day. The members of our armed forces gratefully volunteered to serve in defense of this country and do so admirably. Every loss of life in our military is mourned by the entire nation, including the President.
"Look, I've been with the president of the United States when he has met with the families of those brave young men and women who have sacrificed, John McCain told Fox News's Chris Wallace. I have seen his compassion, I have seen his love, I have seen his concern. So any charge of insensitivity or uncaring on the part of this president, is absolutely false. He cares and he grieves."
What media elitists should be reporting is that Sheehan is asking for ANOTHER ten minute meeting because just as McCain referred to, back in 2004, President Bush met with Sheehan and her family.
The Sheehan family even posted pictures on their website that included one showing President Bush; who Ms. Sheehan now calls a killer and war criminal, kissing her on the cheek. It was also reported that she said, "I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis. I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith. She also added, "That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together.
Hold the flash bulbs and video spotlights in the ditch in Crawford for just a moment here! In 2004, Sheehan claimed the President wanted freedom for the Iraqis and gave them the gift of happiness. Now she is charging him with being a war criminal who killed her son and imperialistically invaded Iraq for oil.
What happened? One would think her grief would have been more visceral and raw when she met the President the FIRST TIME and you would have expected her to have assailed him with her hate-filled rhetoric then, not now.
One thing has apparently changed. Then, she was still in tune with how Casey felt about his proud participation in the military and the war effort... now she has disassociated herself from that understanding and without him, has made the issue about her and what she wants.
Because of her self-interest, the rest of Caseys family have been forced to present how Casey truly felt, contrary to his mothers belief. The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.
Why isnt their message, in accordance with Caseys, being carried in headlines across the nation? Because media elitists eschew their sentiments and agree with the Bush bashing, ego-centric ranting of Cindy Sheehan and the liberals who support her..
Ask yourself, would the mother of a fallen firefighter who lost his life while trying to save people from a burning building, camp out in a ditch in front of the property of the fire chief because, according to her, he had unnecessarily sent her son into harms way to put out the fire and she wants to meet with him to call him a killer?
Would the surviving spouse of a police officer who was killed while taking part in an operation to bring down a drug dealing cartel, associate herself with known anti-police organizations and take part in a vigil with full media coverage where she constantly bashes the police chief while asserting that the police only attacked the drug cartel because they were after the criminals money?
Caseys memory deserves better and his mother should be ashamed not praised.
Yeah, this guy pretty well nails it. Great post.
Read my tag line.
Yep, good perspective. I'm still reading these Sheehan posts but I've decided she just isn't worth wasting many words on.
Exactly.
Good tag line. It applies to most democRats, with one exception, Sen. Zell Miller (D-GA).
Traitorous, insane, exploitative...common liberal traits.
I have to say that if my wife were to embark on such an operation, I'd have a big problem with it. I think my response would be to confront her and explain that either she get home and STFU or I'd see her in court.
That said, I don't so much have a problem with Sheehan's protesting as with her Kerryesque flip-flop and outrageous lying on behalf of the likes of Michael Moore & Co.
Yesterday our local talk show host said that Casey Sheehan was raised by his father and stepmother. If this is so, why did the father get custody Hmmmmmm??????????
I read a letter to the editor of the Temple (TX) Daily Telegram (online) about a local man who went to Crawford and removed a cross that had his son's name on it, who also died in Iraq. His statement was that she shouldn't have involved his son in her subterfuge, or words to that effect.
I would've posted the letter, but it appears that the Temple paper reuses(?) its web pages. I have a brother who lives there, and I sent him the link that day to see whether they were acquainted. By the time he clicked on it, it didn't have that letter there anymore.
Her words are little more than what MSM employees utter every day, day in and day out.
I cannot imagine a more seditious act toward our military or a more hostile, hurtful affront to the other parents of military members than Ms Sheehan's support for Mr. and Mrs. Pearcy's full-sized effigy of a U.S. soldier being hanged by the neck.
Ostensibly the Pearcys were "protesting" the casualties. Both are trained lawyers. They knew what they were doing. What does hanging have to do with combat casualties? The "protest" was an unequivocal expression of contempt and hatred for the U.S. military. Ms Sheehan embraced it.
Good question. I don't know how it is in California, but in Texas the father gets custody basically when the mother doesn't want it. It takes a LOT to convince a Texas DR judge that a mother is unfit.
Nor can I. This is something I hadn't heard about, but it makes my blood run cold. These Pearcy people are more despicable than Sheehan. Damn them to hell.
I don't think that was the case with Casey Sheehan. I think the host is mixing up the story of the other wack-job protesting mother (can't recall her name or the name of her son who was lost).
My mission is to get Cindy talking about Casey:
Cindy, did Casey ever talk or write to you about anti-war demonstrations? What did he think?
Normally I would never intrude on a mother's grief or invade her son's privacy....but Cindy says "this is all about Casey", so even though she says he was brainwashed....I will keep asking her for examples in his own words.
Dear Casey '
Reinforcements are on there way to Crawford . Move America Forward .org is having a support our troops rally on the 27th of this month with other families who have lost their love ones in this world struggle against radical islam . You are a hero Casey but your mom is a zero when it comes to being patriotic , we will forgive her but we will never forgive micheal moore and george soros and the rest of your mom's leftist support .
