WASHINGTON The military intelligence official who recently disclosed that a secret Pentagon computer unit was blocked from alerting the FBI to the presence of the 9/11 hijackers in the United States has met with Senate investigators, in advance of possible hearings this fall.
Mark Zaid, a lawyer for Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, confirmed to The Post his client briefed the staff of Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) about Able Danger, the Pentagon unit set up to look for terror threats within the states.

But Republicans in Congress are interested in probing Shaffer's claim that Able Danger managers were blocked by the Clinton administration from disclosing their evidence to the FBI.

We need hearings. Another Commission to investigate won't get us anywhere. We need under oath testimony and hearings ala Irangate type hearings. Let the American people decide for themselves who is telling the truth.
You're right Peach...as usual.
How about if the "commission" is a federal grand jury...
I don't know of any group in the Senate that I would trust to "investigate" this. Specter, in any case, would be at the bottom of my list. Too many in the Senate have been willing participants in various phases of the events leading to the problem or the ensuing cover up. They all seem to be more interested in protecting themselves and their colleagues than in looking after the interests of the country.
Specter's staff members are already debriefing the Able Danger insiders and most likely immediatley turning over their findings to Hitlery and Gorelick as soon as it comes in. Having Specter hold the hearings is just as bad as having Gorlick on the original commission. Specter's job is to protect Hitlery and Gorelick at all cost.
SNORT!
Just sent Emails to my Rep and House leaders, DeLay is the best hope.
Do you really think that Spectre is turning over information from the debriefings to Gorelick? That would be most disturbing, if true.
I'm not so sure I want a federal grand jury, either. They operate in secret, take months and sometimes years to reach a conclusion.
I would much prefer to see open hearings with under oath testimony and let US decide who is telling the truth and who is covering up to further their Clinton legacy building agenda.
Thanks. (Although I'm wrong plenty of times :-))
I don't trust Spectre, but it would be a new low even for him to relate debriefing information to the 9/11 Commission.
In fact, I wonder if that's even allowable or legal.
Well, maybe if he sticks to US law instead of Scottish law this time, we'll be okay? (/sarcasm - I'm worried too)
Yah, I want to know what Clinton knew, and when did he know it?
