He urges governor to join Arizona, New Mexico in asking U.S. to help defray cost of illegal immigrants.

As he prepares to meet next week with Mexican President Vicente Fox, Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez is pressuring Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to join his counterparts in New Mexico and Arizona in declaring a state of emergency to help defray the costs of illegal immigration.

"We have to protect and patrol our borders more effectively," Núñez said Friday in an interview on Fox News Channel, but he added, "The federal government needs to do its fair share to reimburse the states for housing illegal immigrants in our jails."

I saw this idiot Nunez on Fox News yesterday, and all he could say was that "the Federa government needs to pay its fair share" about 5 times. He doesn't care how many millions of illegal aliens stream across the border, as long as the Federales pay for it.

Ahh, so the "emergency" is that the U.S. needs to increase room and board for illegal aliens?

I'm still waiting for Richardson, by the way, to make sense as an American and stop it with his focus on what Mexico is 'feeling' and otherwise doing...I mean, whatever.

Richardson insists, also, on saying, "these undocumented workers...these undocumented workers..."

And then, and I quote, said this:

"...(many hundreds of thousands) of undocumented workers have been apprehended...we're talking about a way we can bring these individuals into our society and...if they have proper records, PROPER records in terms of the law...(we can, we should) build a core around these IMMIGRANTS and MAKE THEM THINK THEY'RE PART OF SOCIETY..."

Richardson has no plans to stop the flow of illegal aliens. He DOES have plans, from what he says on FOX News (quotes above are from his appearance Thursday on Hannity & Colmes), to receive more federal dollars IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE illegal aliens. Or, if you think like Richardson does, the "undocumented workers."

Please note in those statements of Richardson that he referred to the illegal aliens (his words, "undocumented workers") being enabled by us Americans to have "a core built around (them)...and bring them into society (that means amnesty is Richardson's plan, not prevention)..."

And even went so far as to rationalize their presence in the U.S. by saying "if they have PROPER RECORDS IN TERMS OF THE LAW...(then they'll be fine and dandy in New Mexico)..."

What PART OF 'ILLEGAL ALIENS' does Richardson (Governor of a state, no less) not GET when he refers to ILLEGAL ALIENS as having "PROPER RECORDS IN TERMS OF THE LAW"?

I think the answer here in deciphering Bill Richardson language is that his "emergency" plans are for purposes of gettting MORE taxpayer dollars to fund MORE housing and licenses and "records" for illegal aliens. I doubt he has plans/intentions to do much of anything else.

Richardson's "emergency" should be called the ROOM AND BOARD PLAN.

He doesn't care how many millions of illegal aliens stream across the border, as long as the Federales pay for it.

You just hit on the Dem strategy. They will try to pin the blame on the Bush Administration not funding the states huge efforts (barf!) to handle the illegal alien problem.

If they can successfully divert the issue away from border security to "taking care of those already contributing to our society" then they can damage any Republican chance at the White House in 2008 while only paying lip service to closing the borders. (closing the borders will come after we fund the states properly).

The theme will be used for education (no child left behind) which is not fully funded. Before we (Dems) make changes (because it is working) we must fund it more fully (to repay the teachers' union).

Dems will take Republican issues and talk about funding them so they can work first, then complete their implementation (which will not happen).

California liberals and conservatives agree on one thing. The Bush administration needs to get off its arse and take some action.

Liberals want the federal government to reimburse California for the extraordinary costs associated with unregulated immigration so that the California can continue "our" programs which provides a safety net for Mexico's poor.

Conservatives want Bush to reimburse California for the financial damage his policies have created thus far, take immediate action to control our southern boarder with Mexico, start a meaningful process to identify the existing illegal interlopers, begin to prosecute the employers of identified illegal aliens and finally, promptly deport those identiifed illegal aliens and their minor children, regardless of country of birth, to their country of origin.

I notice that the only thing they want in these declarations of emergency is money from the feds. No mention of actually doing something to stop the inflow.

No matter how you cut it, the TAXPAYER is getting screwed by their governments (state and federal) for this atrocity.

Tells you the game Richardson is playing - if he was worth a damn, he would be calling for border to be shut down and the ILLEGALS to be thrown out. What a joke.

I have a suspicion that Richardson, Nunez, et al. are more interested in safe passage of ILLEGAL immigrants than in enforcing our immigration laws.

Reports are increasing about dangers on the border, drug traffic, abuses of ILLEGAL immigrants, ILLEGAL immigrants deaths from exposure.

By all means those problems need to be confronted -- and the ILLEGAL immigrants protected.

But don't let this turn out to be a "safe passage" effort for the 40 percent of Mexicorruption's population looking to come here.

Richardson was on Hannity & Colmes the other night and did keep saying this stuff. He also said that NM gives them Driver's Licenses and they are eligble for college grants. I couldn't figure out how he could call for a state of emergency when he's doing these things to encourage them to come there?

In the case of what I typed here previously, as to quoting Richardson from his second appearance on Hannity & Colmes (this past Thursday), he DID SAY EXACTLY what I typed because I wrote his comments down as he said them and then listend to the two replays afterward to ensure I'd written down what he said as he said what he said.

So, what I typed here he said verbatem. Pretty horrible.

It also explains his pressing need for "emergency" because what he is doing is just getting more federal dollars to pay for his already-in-motion plans.

I also now think that Richardson's going on about "what Mexico thinks of (him)" in some sort of concerned tone (which he did on both appearances on Hannity, Wednesday and Thursday) is Richardson just doing drama, as in, he HAS to say that to deflect any obviousness of pandering, assistance, all that, but he did make it clear that his attention is with and on Mexico, as are his concerns, as to what he's doing. He never, not once, spoke out in concern about "the United States" and even "the citizens of New Mexico."

He simply was an ardent apologist for amnesty, taxpayer funded services for illegals and the consistent refusal to acknowledge their illegal behaviors by repeatedly calling them "undocumented workers."

I was somewhat encouraged when I heard about these two border state "emergencies" but I now think they are intended to accomplish about the opposite of what most of us here would like.

And, to try to extend the benefit of the doubt to Schwarzenegger, maybe Schwarzenegger is trying to look out for the state's credit rating AND to avoid the pandering to Mexico that it appears N.M. and Arizona are engaged in.

I just don't know, time will tell. I could be wrong about all of it but I wasn't wrong about what Richardson said on Hannity and I sure would be surprised if my take was off as to his questionable comments.
