Why wood a squirrel attack a woman?? I thought they went for the nuts.

I picked up a squirrel that happened to be standing on my foot, and I was wearing leather gloves because I know they have teeth, but that thing started squirming four different directions at once. I finally became concerned that I would injure the poor thing before he gave up, so I let him go. They are strong, surprisingly so. He ran off about eight feet and then started barking at me. But, he never stood on my foot again.

I've had two pet squirrels in my life; one ground squirrel and one flying squirrel.

If police officers are becoming this afraid is it any wonder why their behaviors seem more erratic and motives more suspicious?
