Cold War tensions were on the rise. The Soviet Air Force shot down a South Korean airliner, claiming it had strayed into their airspace, while tragedy struck U.S. Marines in Beruit. But the U.S. also liberated Grenada from a Cuban invasion.
New shows on TV included The A Team and Knight Rider, which introduced future Baywatch star and German singing sensation David Hasselhoff to the world.
Some music from '83:
Music bump from yesterday.
Good morning, E..((HUGS)) Did you have a good Saturday? Take your puppy for a drive? Pouring down rain for a couple hours in the evening, after a nice sunny day.
Congradulations, SandRat.:-D
That's OK, it happens to me from time to time:-D
We had a little bit of thunder and lightning last night. Had to unplug the computer. Yesterday was nice and sunny and warm but we may get some rain today.
My sister from the city is gonna try to come down and visit and bring her family. It all depends on the weather.
Please take me off the ping list. Thanks in advance.
Consider it done.
Thanks a lot. Just too many posts in my in-box to keep track of. Now that I know what y'all are up to I'll have to make sure I check it out without having to be reminded.
However, under the category of "Great Guitar Solos" one must include Nils Lofgren "Black Book" and Steve Goodman "The Dutchman". Especially if one is a fan of acoustic guitar.
LOL! Every Friday evening just click the Canteen button on the FR front page. Then click the thread. Lots of music to choose from. We are here 24/7/365 to honor and entertain our troops and veterans and families and allies. Drop by anytime.
Duly noted. I'll add them to the request list for next week.
I just caught up to your solution to the bottles that wouldn't fit in the box.....LOL!

Rolling Stone magazine is a bunch of communist pin-heads who know less about music than they do politics.
Any list of great guitarists that puts Johnny Ramone at #16 and Joe Satriani NOWHERE has not been compiled by musicians. This is just "stuff we heard", "that guy looks cool", and "we'll sound like we're eclectic if we choose..." There is no rational, informed comparative analysis going on there at all.
Haven't heard the King's X, although I really liked Gretchen Goes to Nebraska.
My band plays Slow Ride, Kenny's, not Foghat's thank God, so I'm down with that all right. We do this funky Satriani instrumental called "Psycho Monkey" then blast right into "Slow Ride" with wah-wah a-blazing. Crowd always likes it.

Hi, Ma!
Tried to get to the Counter~Code Pink FReep at Walter Reed Friday night. Couldn't make it. We had two late arriving planes at 9:00 pm that needed to be recovered. Plus Post Flight Inspections and Gas.
Didn't leave Andrews until around 11:00 pm. The FReep usually runs from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
Jack.
