A mother objects to Sheehan's protest
The Star Tribune ^ | 8/19/2005 | Eric Black

Cindy Sheehan's protest vigil outside the Bush ranch is "a slap in the face" to the soldiers who have been killed in Iraq, in the opinion of Marny Fasnacht, whose son Michael died in Iraq.

Sheehan wants to challenge President Bush to specify the "noble cause" for which her son gave his life. Fasnacht, the mother of one of 25 Minnesotans who have died in the war in Iraq, would like to answer that.

And she's got 'absolute' moral authority too! Maureen Dowd's version of the Pope, or something like that.

Could it be that their readers are letting them know that they're tired of our heros being attacked by anti-Americans?

The Dowd statement shows she is ill with illogic. Absolute should mean just that, and we don't have to confuse it with the definition of "is". Of course with the Dowd logic, if we have five moms, it is clear we have to be willing to accept five differing absolutes. She is a crummy enough writer. Thank God she doesn't write software.

Of course, the caveat is that Dowd gets to choose the absolute she agrees with at whatever the moment.

What she means, of course, is that left-wing authority is absolute and we peons have no business using common sense, loyalty to country, or other subversive tools to question it.

The MSM and the anti-war BS crowd is deceitful in its description of the men and women fighting the terrorists in IRAQ as "children" or "our boys and girls". This is an insult. These people are men and women.

I propose we start calling Sheehan and the anti-war ilk "children" because they are someone's children as well...And it is much more appropriate because they are actually acting like children...

Liberals believe that violence is a reflection of failure -- a failure to talk or negotiate to resolve problems -- and that this is a failure on an international level, is to placed solely on American shoulders and, more specifically, on president Bush. Bush is to be blamed for violence, war, terrorism, in short, everything! For their part, the liberals feel morally superior in that they would have wanted more international talks (talk, talk, talk while Saddam built, built, built, stole, stole, stole, killed, killed, killed). Yes, talking succeeds for somebody like Saddam, who uses it like a tactic to stall, kill, cheat, lie and who would never deviate from his course of violence. Liberals believe in talking and it is their supreme arrogance that makes them assume that they can talk dictators into complying, that they have power to persuade anybody just with mere words... They forget history, they forget WWII, that Freedom throughout the world needed to be defended with actions and not just words. Freedom of speech at times requires harsh actions to protect it. But these freedoms are taken for granted by people like Sheehan. For them it's all about talking the talk and not walking the walk... unless it is a walk to protest the very people who are defending them.

And yet a 13-yr-old girl is ADULT enough to get an abortion according to Cindy's friends.

I wonder at what age Cindy thinks someone is old enough to sign up to fight for his country? Thirty? Not if it's HER son. How about forty? Fifty? Pretty soon we'd have only retired people fighting for freedom. And Cindy would be yelling, "Bring our parents home."

"He was a courageous hero. There's no getting around it," his mother said. "I'm not adjusted to his death."

Thank you so much, Mrs. Fasnacht. May you be wrapped in His arms.
