Okay, in my younger days, I had a friend who needed extra help for parties at the Playboy mansion. For these events, I was a paid employee of Playboy.
This friend got my SSN, and I did not even have to give that to him.
So I earned money for Playboy. And at that time, I thought it was really neat. Many people may not believe me, but I have had one crazy life.
The point of this is that I worked for Playboy in my younger days, and I was compensated. Not as much as at my full time job, but I still earned money.
Today, I would tell anyone that this was a mistake in my life and I regret it.
There is something about the name Playboy that will allure the most ardent conservative (unless he is careful).
Judge John Roberts is guilty of doing something for a few hours on his own time. I worked a few parties at the Playboy Mansion, and I even helped with the re-work of the Master Bedroom. I knew the woman (Playmate), or at least met, Star 80 -- the tragic story of a death of Playboy Playmate around 1980.
The point is simple -- anyone can make a mistake, and I really do regret working at that place with my beliefs today. I really do. And that friend was close to me. In some respects, he was like a 2nd father at the time.
And there is a huge difference between an attorney doing pro-bono work, and someone who was an employee of Playboy. I disagreed with the philosophy of Playboy at the time, but it was neat to be in your 20's and be able to attend parties at the Playboy Mansion.
So I can forgive Judge Roberts for what he did on that and also the other issue. If he was an ardent backer of homosexual rights, then I would be concerned.
But sometimes we make mistakes, and if I had it to do over again, I would not have wanted to work at Playboy or go there. But at times, visiting with him at Playboy was the only way to see him -- he spent a number of hours there at one time.
And I have made my share of mistakes here on Freerepublic. Maybe there are times I should have been banned here at Freerepublic, but that is another story...
The bottom line is what is in a person's heart and the true intent. And I pray that Judge Roberts is the person that many believe him to be. I don't think he walks on water. And even the one human being in the Bible that walked on water (Saint Peter) had his share of human faults and failings. Saint Paul told us about some of Saint Peter's failings, as well as in the Gospels.
So maybe this is all about having faith. And, more importantly love (charity as Mother Theresa showed us), and also hope.
... are you FReepin' nuts?
No one is perfect, but this story is a little too perfect and well timed to bump real news off the slogging monotony of the MSM.
This was the player who exposed himself to a little girl and then was traded to the L.A. Rams. One day, I met him at work (my regular job) as he had become an electronics salesman. And the same day, I was visiting my friend at the Playboy Mansion, as he was also there.
Of course, at the Playboy Mansion, you are quite a celebrity if you have done something like he did (exposing himself to a little girl), but that was part of the crazy thing about the Playboy Mansion...
This was after this player retired from the L.A. Rams.
And I do remember what Electronics supplier he worked for...
Playboy tricks more women into mistakes and promiscuity with their whole "clean" image. At least Hustler doesn't lie and pretend that sex is something innocent.
In a sense, that is the point of my story. Can we hold Judge Roberts accountable for Pro-Bono work for Playboy?
I know in my own life, I have struggled with the fact I was compensated by Playboy. According to my beliefs, it is a company that has brought a lot of harm to the traditional marriage as well as the traditional family. My beliefs are very conservative Christian.
Hugh Hefner is proud of the fact that he gave seed money to the abortion movement in the 1960's. I am very pro-life.
Think you'll make it a whole day here?
Hi topher,Thanks for telling us,fatima
Well, it wasn't that. It was was more preparing for the parties. And that is all I will say. But I attended a few as work, and did help Manhattan Transfer's roadies load things up after a concert (sound equipment).
Ah, sorry. I was being flippant (and perhaps envious!)
I didn't mean to offend.
This cat, on the other hand, I may have a problem with.
You are correct- but I wonder if Lance Allworth is saying the same thing?
I have absolutely no reason to not believe your post, and the fact that you did work for Playboy.
I support Judge Roberts nomination because I trust President Bush to have picked a qualified candidate. Of course, the left's, NARAL, etc., opposition to him helps. Much that I have read about him points him out to be qualified, also. But I may be wrong, he may turn out not to have been a good choice after all.
It is the truth. I am more proud of knowing a woman who was invited to met with Pope John Paul II (only one of 40 people in the US). She is much more important to me than anything that ever happened at Playboy.
But there are some retired employees of a company called McData that could verify the story of Lance Rentzel and Sterling Electronics. The engineer that met with Lance I kidded later by saying "Did Lance wear his raincoat today?" -- alluding to Lance's "flashy" behavior...
That is an easy mistake to make -- because the LA Rams traded Lance Allworth to the Cowboys for Lance Rentzel.
When I thought of the story, I had to do a google search to remember who was the husband of Joey Heatherton.
I don't think Lance Allworth went around with raincoats -- it was Lance Rentzel. But whoever it was, they worked for Sterling Electronics in the Los Angeles area...
And oh... ACPOTI
You didn't. I literally had to wrestle with this for a number of years, but hopefully I am okay with this.
But there is a very clever deceit that has occurred in America that has hurt families. Part of it is women being immodest or dressing that way. The other part of it is the open sexuality that started many years ago.
Hefner had to break the pornography laws regarding mail, and I think he did that with the help of the ACLU and Planned Parenthood, but I don't remember...
