Rob Port is guest-blogging at Whizbang, and highlights the circus-like atmosphere that's developing around Cindy Sheehan. For all of the PR and media professionals that are supporting the Sheehan spectacle - not to mention the fistfuls of money - her demand for a second meeting with President Bush is developing into an unprofessional, bumbling affair. There was some confusion as to whether Sheehan originally penned the anti-Semitic letter to Nightline claiming that "neo-cons" in PNAC (hint: she means "Jews") started the Iraq War for Israel's benefit. On Anderson Cooper last night, she told listeners that she had nothing to do with the letter. Turns out, that was exactly false:
ABC now says it talked to Sheehan and she said she did in fact write the letter in question after all and she did receive an e-mail from ABC confirming that ABC had received it. But she thinks the version on the web has been tampered with.... the most likely conclusion is that Cindy Sheehan is making up totally implausible excuses for lying on TV.
It seems increasingly like Sheehan, bundled up warm in her Leftist cocoon, didn't realize how far out of the mainstream her "Jews lied - kids died" ranting really was. And before her handlers could really get to her, she made a straight-forwardly falsifiable statement on CNN in a desperate attempt to make herself seem more reasonable. And then when that statement, she used the faux stubborn "well I just don't know how that happened" excuse so familiar to schoolyard teachers chiding misbehaving students. But national news stations discussing the most significant issues of the day are an entirely different level, and Sheehan apparently thought that she was still in the supportive echo-chamber of the anti-war Left. She did quite a little bit more than subtly imply that ABC News was lying - and now that their credibility is on the line, they have an incentive to bury her for her increasingly un-compelling backtracks. Across the board, she just doesn't seem to appreciate the stakes involved her posturing. She's coming off like an amateur, albeit one spouting some of the most craven and vulgar conspiracy theories of the anti-war Right and Left. While we're discussing the waters that Sheehan swims in, there are a couple of Sheehan posts that we - for reasons passing understanding - failed to link to when they first went up. First Solomonia did the dirty work of turning over the rocks and pulling up the roots to see what kind of creepy-crawlies were attaching themselves to the growing circus in Crawford, and then caught Sheehan's virulently anti-Israel sponsors cleansing their webpage to get rid of what was found. Meanwhile, smart liberals are becoming increasingly nervous that their wagon is being hitched to Sheehan's star:
Those on the left who lionize Cindy Sheehan should realize that they are promoting someone who apparently subscribes to the most odious notion that a cabal of Jews who were defending Israel's interests led us to war. While we can sympathize with her profound loss, progressives should reject her extremist arguments.
We'll withhold judgment on the narrow question of whether Sheehan really took a page out of David Duke's talking points and accused the "neo-con PNAC" lobby of using American soldiers to fight Israel's war. But given the tenor of some of her interviews, it seems that she is both well-versed in the lingo - and actually harbors some of the beliefs - of the reactionary conspiracy-theory crowd.

Probably? She is as anti-Semitic as Adolph Schicklegrubber.
The Jews tampered with her Email.
Her teeth are misaligned. She is probably an anti dentite as well...
Those who scream antisemite against Sheehan are the right wing version of Al Sharptonites who scream racist against all those who dare to criticize preferences.
FNC: Cindy's mother had a stroke. SHe's headed home.

Her sister can go too.
