Oslo teenager dies 'making bomb'

A 17-year-old has died after explosives he appears to have been trying to make in his Oslo flat detonated. The blast blew out some windows in the block and left the victim's 19-year-old brother injured. Three other friends escaped unhurt.

Norwegian police said internet instructions on how to make explosives and some powder were found at the flat.

Police are questioning those present but are not reported to think they had links to any extremist groups.

Other apartments in the three-storey block were evacuated after the blast.

"At the scene we found written instructions on how to make explosives and some powder that the youngsters had mixed," Inspector Vidar Hjulstad told Norwegian public radio NRK.

The powder has been sent for analysis.

More and more, I see Islam as not so much the cause of but rather the PRETEXT for a lot of so-called "jihadist" activity. Many of the "jihadists" appear to be common thugs who at some point decide to give their criminality a religious justification by describing themselves as "holy warriors." True, the nature of Islam seems to make this psychological shift relatively easy, but it still seems to me that Islam is often just a thin veneer over fundamentally criminal and anti-social personalities.

Do you know that they are Muslims? There are a lot of Palestinian Christian refugees all over the world. I frequently go to a restaurant at a food court that is operated by Palestinian Christian exiles. Very nice people.

Ticket machines were bomb targets

The explosives that blasted an Oslo apartment on Wednesday killing a teen occupant were intended to be used to blow up Oslo Transit ticket machines. The damage from the blast that rocked an Oslo apartment building on Wednesday night is clearly visible here.

Police said at a Thursday press conference that the three men present when their homemade bomb detonated were preparing a crime scheme from a recipe downloaded from the Internet.

The explosion killed a 17-year-old boy of Syrian origin. He and his 19-year-old brother were awaiting trial on a number of charges of crime for profit, including emptying slot machines.

A 20-year-old friend of the brothers has been charged with illegal handling of explosives and was being questioned on Thursday afternoon. This person is of Pakistani origin, police said.

"I will not say if these three have blown up other ticket machines but explosives have been used to this end in this part of the city a few days ago," said police inspector Terje Kristiansen of Oslo police.

Clearly, this was Norway's fault.

These poor boys did not have the benefits that non Muslims had and Society should have identified those shortcomings and aggressively moved to remedy them.

After all, nobody is "bad," it was the societal and cultural net in which he was enmeshed that is at fault.

Strong measures must be taken to prevent any other occurrence of such a thing, and heavy compensation must be made to the family of this poor victim.

More multi cultural and diversity training must be made in the state run schools.

All Norwegians must understand the necessity of painful punitive and remedial measures that must, and will be enforced by the Courts.
