Protestors stay put, Bush supporters move in
Updated: Aug 19, 2005 4:51pm
Despite an offer from a local rancher to relocate Camp Casey, anti-war protest are staying put and President Bush got a little support of his own Friday.
More than 100 people converged on Crawford to support the Commander-In-Chief. They came to Crawford from all over the country, marching with a message for the president: "Cindy Sheehan doesn't speak for all of us," said Bush supporter Debi Bohannon.
Eve Tidwell says, "We have no reason to drop the morale of those troops over there by having someone on the news over and over and over again saying her son died for nothing."
Meanwhile, at Camp Casey, protestors marched, praying for the president, our soldiers and humanity. Some families told stories of their soldiers who died in action. Friday was supposed to be moving day for them, but organizers say a lack of space and media scrutiny ended plans to move to a spot five miles down the road. Instead, they'll use both sites.
Ann Wright says, "We are not moving anywhere. Our demands are not moved, our location is not moved."
That's until August 31st, when the president heads back to Washington.
Cindy Sheehan left Crawford Thursday after her mother suffered a stroke. There's no word on her mother's condition or if Sheehan will return to Crawford before the end of the month.
