Back in June, the FBI served search warrants at the offices, businesses and homes of two city council members and a planning commissioner. Also, last Friday, Mayor Laura Miller asked that commissioner D'Angelo Lee resign.
City sources familiar with the document said agents now appear to be examining the activities of two more council members and two more city plan commissioners.
Leo Chaney was one of two Dallas City Council members named in a new grand jury subpoena served by the FBI Wednesday. The other named was Dr. Maxine Thornton-Reese.
"I don't have anything to say other than I am just as surprised as anyone else," Chaney said.
And Thornton-Reese said she has nothing to hide.
"I'll cooperate with whatever it is," she said. "I'm not afraid for them to subpoena anything to do with my records."
The subpoena affected records in four different departments of the city including the secretary's office, development services, economicdevelopment and housing.
It demanded documents, tapes, emails and phone records involving at least five specific low-income tax credit housing projects. It also covered two builders at the heart of the probe - Southwest Housing and Odyssey Residential Holdings.
Plan Commissioners Carol Brandon, an appointee of James Fantroy and Melvyn Traylor, an appointee of Leo Chaney, were also named. The addition of their name makes it three city plan commissioners and four Dallas city council members now in the FBI spotlight.
Some of the city's top black political leaders are the target and Fantroy said race is fueling the FBI probe.
"What are they saying?" he asked. "That we can't be honest and serve on the boards and commissions and council? I tell them, they better stop what they are doing, because it is not looking good in our community."
Fantroy also accused Mayor Miller of being behind it all, which she denied.
"I certainly don't have anything to do with what's going on," she said. "I certainly did not create the activities that led the FBI to look inside this building."
Fantroy warned those involved with the probe.
"This has gotten, and is getting, way out of hand ... and they better stop it," Fantroy said. They mess around, and (it'll) make the Los Angeles riots look like a picnic."
The city attorney has set an internal deadline of Friday to respond to the subpoena. Meanwhile, the ongoing investigation will be front and center.
The council will consider the Miller's proposal to remove City Plan Commissioner Lee from his position.
While Lee is a subject of the investigation, the issue has turned into a personal fight between Miller and council member Hill.
The mayor, Laura Miller is somewhat toothless and at times gets bogged down in silly standoffs against common sense solutions(such as the Guardian Angels offer to patrol Deep Ellum, a tourist area that has seen its crime rate skyrocket from thuggery.) But she did knock out of the mayor's office and administration some of the corrupt race-based cabal, providing just enough disruption and exposure for the FBI to get its opportunity. About darn time. Everyone under investigation, plus at least half the council and dept heads, belong in handcuffs.
wait 'til the feds wrap up the Los Angeles cases - there'll be hell to pay...
yup , Fantroy should be doing a "perp walk" for that threat of rioting , what a thug
Dallas needs the "strong Mayor".

The DMN article forgot to mention that Councilman Don Hill said he thought it was "interesting" that "everyone involved in the probe was black".
I was almost certain we'd have to wait for the indictment for them to drop the race card, but I guess the kitchen is getting too hot for him.
I definitely expect marches on City Hall within two weeks with Je$$e Jack$on, the NAALCP, and the Black Panthers all demanding the end of "slave justice" in Dallas.
Meanwhile, I wouldn't doubt for a minute that more cash was being passed under the table than drugs at a rave party!
Usually, it's John Wiley Price of the Dallas County Commissioner's Court threatening the riots. This is the first time in a long time a member of the council has called for one.
"John Wiley Price" I moved out of Dallas county 6 years ago and that name still curls my toes. If a con man played the game that Price plays, they would be in jail.
I heard a rumor that the Highland Park Caucasoids were gonna' hit the streets & riot till dawn!
LOL! No way.... they'll hire a bunch of Mexicans to riot for them first.
http://www.dallasarena.com and http://www.dallas.org are two websites that provide 'watchdog' duties to things at City Hall and the school district. Very interesting and worth the read.
That's their only line of defense. No matter what they do wrong, once that race card is played, they have much of Dallas supporting them. What a joke.
What's the deal in your town, chief?

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
Thanks for the links.
Nothing but woofing.Dallas has never had any riots, even after the King assasination in 1968.
Now Dallas is just like Detroit, Cleveland, Memphis, and Philadelphia; corruption all the way.

For those not as familiar with Dallas politics corroption, he is?
Al Lipscomb, a former Dallas City Councilmsn, is an older black man who is a rabble rouser akin to Jessie Jackson. He was convicted in 1999 for 65 counts of receiving bribes and had to resign from the Dallas City Council because of that. The annual game between Grambling and Prarie View was named after him during the Texas State Fair. It's not any more.
This is a very brief synopsis of Lipscomb, rhymes with scum. That he is.
