Elementary schools shouldn't be teaching homosexuality
The Denver Post ^ | August 17, 2005 | Al Kinght

The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) has been busy for 10 years ... creating gay student groups at hundreds of high schools and passing laws or regulations that limit or eliminate harassment aimed at homosexuals....The organization has also used part of its $4.3 million budget to promote a reading list for students as young as those in kindergarten....

At the high school level, some of this indoctrination might be excused on the grounds that students are old enough to make personal choices and maybe some of them can define terms like "sexuality" and "gender."

No such excuse can be made for this kind of social indoctrination at the elementary level.

The very idea that GLSEN and other groups are busy offering "educational resources" or training programs to elementary school teachers in order to create a more "affirming environment" for gay students is appalling....

"To educate children on the "arts" of homosexuality is to corrupt young minds with the abomination. "

It's an important distinction. There are GSLEN activists within the faculties of many schools today. I've been searching my email for the case of a lesbian teacher who had a GSLEN illustrated chart up over her desk showing how lesbians "do it." I'll post it when I find it. She may have been a high school teacher; but you know what? It's still inappropriate.

One constant theme that I keep seeing is that the educational establishment seems uninterested in teaching actual school subjects that had been taught for years, and more interested in peripheral stuff like this.

And they want more respect...

"This is a crying shame that any human would want to teach an innocent pure child about the filth of homosexuality or other perversions."

All the more reason Homosexuals should not be allowed to adopt since they will be teaching homosexuality right at home.

"Teachers that attempt to teach minors about homosexuality should be charged with child abuse. Why isn't that law on the books already?"

Because many of us traditional Americans have been asleep at the wheel on this one. Their ideology is that homosexuality is a naturally occurring phenomenon and therefore only religious bigots say it's wrong.

The political leaders within the gay movement have made their aims and goals very clear in their publications since the 70s. And teaching children about homosexuality is one of their many efforts to have homosexuality and gay marriage completely legalized and "normalized". The next steps will be

1) to silence any criticism of the practice; this is already the law in Canada, where pastors of Christian churches can be jailed for reading the Bible prohibitions against homosexuality,

2) to lower the age of consent from 17 to 12, or even younger. This means your middle-schooler could be in a relationship with his soccer coach and there would be nothing parents could do about it if it were a public school.

Parents are beginning to fight back. But they've been slow on the uptake, since these goals have been published for 30+ years.

Exactly. It's part of the "self-esteem" movement that has resulted in lowered test scores in basic subjects like reading, math and history.

I think you're on to something. Homosexual education should never belong at an elementary level but, if they insist on teaching it at the High School level, this education should include statistics on HIV/AIDS in homosexuals vs heterosexuals. Education on any subject should include ALL the facts and not just those that a particular special interest group wants high-lighted.

I think the teaching of homosexuality to small children constitutes sexual harassment, child abuse, and a form of legalized pornography, bordering on pedophelia. Those who insist on teaching this to young children should be prosecuted and sentenced as sexual offenders.

Yes, but this is even beyond self esteem nonsense. Seems they are more intersted in everything but actually teaching traditional subjects.

We're way behind the curve on this. That's why I keep posting these articles as I find them. All of us who believe this is a crime against children have been silent too long. Activist courts have been "awarding" children to gay and lesbian couples since the 70s, with little thought to, or actual denial of, the fate of the children.

Countless studies have shown that children do best with both biological parents in the home. Yet the political correctness elites want to silence any statement that one idea could be better than another. They think children are primarily a "right" for the parents, not primarily a responsibility to the children and the rest of society.

"My kids aren't even allowed to attend rock conserts"

Wow, I have never even considered allowing anyone that kind of control over the raising of my children.

We need to start transforming our outrage into action. Here in Maryland we are fighting the ACLU, which is trying to force our state to legalize gay marriage as Massachusetts did. Of course we are loaded with Blue counties, but only around DC and Baltimore. The rest of the state is fairly conservative.

It's already the law here that elementary kids have to read "Heather Has Two Mommies" and a similar book about gay dads.

But the facts from the USCDC (Centers for Disease Control) couldn't be more clear that the behaviors expose participants to a wide variety of deadly diseases at a hugely higher rate than heterosexual practices. But advocates for gay marriage don't want to hear it and try to characterize all of it as bigotry.

I believe the parent is the one exercising control by choosing an educational institution that reflects and reinforces the values taught at home. That is what a responsible parent does.

All parents, grandparents and guardians interested in protecting their children from this kind of indoctrination need to be very, very inquisitive about exactly what their children are being taught. We should ask to see the instruction materials in any "social studies" or "health" areas. And we should bond with other parents and go to the school board meetings if we believe the materials are harmful to the values we teach at home.

My son was in a private school; even there, the "health" teacher smirked at me when I expressed concern about their plan for a co-ed "pajama" party in which the high schoolers would be locked in the gym overnight. What in the world were they thinking?

After all the research I have done on the schools in the past year I am NOT at all surprised. Just pulled mine out. I have learned that public education has been HIJACKED by the NEA-dems and the ACLU. Im assuming this became standard policy between 1992-2000.

People need to really really look at the curriculum being taught in public schools. They are attempting to turn children into lib robots.

Just last night I dropped in to our former middle schools curriculum (after the fact of withdrawl) just to see how we were keeping up with the core. I checked out world history for 8th grade. They are studying 500BC to 500ad with study of the onset of Islam. Gees, wasnt this an historical time for the birth of Christianity? But they do not dare touch the subject.

Also, lots of academic time discussing "Conflict Resolution"

I translate that to mean don't let the conservative get a word in edgewise. Just keep talking and make sure you get the last word

Sorry, this is my hot button

Im ready for serious action on this topic. Need some support. My community is supportive but unwilling to rock the boat here in our perfect bedroom community with the "best public schools"

Please, keep talking. All conservatives need to hear how bad it has gotten so they can start to take action. Your example of the teaching about Islam, but that Christianity is forbidden, is only the tip of the iceberg. Earlier this year a California teacher confiscated a copy of the Declaration of Independence because it says we owe our rights to God...

Most people and groups know if you want to make longterm change you have to get to the children. The homosexuals and perverts know this and are trying their damndest to get to them as soon as they can. This is sick and outrageous, but not unexpected.

Excuse me for butting in on this, but my kids are in a small Christian school. We know all the teachers and their spouses and children well. We all also know the other families who send their children there as well. It is a very close community. No homosexuals here! It IS possible to find a good school where the students are taught all sex outside of a traditional marriage is wrong.

THe situation in our school system was so alarming, I was told by an attorney NOT to go to the media. I could be sued for slander because I have no proof. We wrote the school system a letter, copied our RINO state rep and RINO Governor. NO RESPONSE from any of them.
