Authorities in Jefferson County announced Wednesday morning that a new task force comprised of 17 police officers is taking over the investigation of a missing pregnant woman last seen Sunday evening.
Lt. Col. Steven Meinberg said the task force met for the first time at 8 a.m. Wednesday. The announcement was made at morning press conference that was supposed to be held at the main meeting room of the sheriff’s office. The briefing had to moved outdoors, because the task force has taken over the meeting room to accommodate officers assigned to the unit from five other Jefferson County police agencies.
Meinberg said officers from Crystal City, Festus, Herculaneum, Hillsboro and Pevely have joined the task force. He said the unit is contact with the FBI, but that the federal agency isn’t actively involved in the investigation. The task force is headed by Lt. Tommy Wright, the head of the detective bureau at the sheriff’s office.
Amanda Jones, 26, of Pevely, was last seen at the horse-show grounds of the Hillsboro Civic Center on Highway 21 in central Jefferson County about 5 p.m. Sunday. Police found Jones’ unlocked car at the civic center but said it offered no clues as to her

No, I don't think the show grounds are probably the place either although it was opportune. Or the farm, I don't think anyone would be that stupid(even though there is an empty septic tank there.)

Something new today....according to KSDK, law enforcement is calling Bryan Westfall a "person of interest", and the news account seemed to say that his girlfried is a POI as well.

I have always seriously questioned the assertion that women are innately smarter than men.
No, I don't believe that this poor woman and her baby deserve any evil whatsoever, but one can't help wondering why anyone is surprised when going into the cave of the monster, bad things can result.
No Bryan is not her husband, he's never been anyone's husband. This pregnancy evidently resulted after a Christmas party. Things happen like that and usually no one sits in judgment. If you could see Bryan Westfall, you would not think he is a monster, in fact, anything but. He's clean cut, reserved, quiet, respectful, successful. If you were a mother you would probably want your daughter to date him. I don't think Amanda would have thought of him as a monster or had any inclination of anything that would have alarmed her. Give the girl some credit. She handled the whole pregnancy by herself, she's a bank loan processor, a loving daughter and mother to a young daughter. According to reports she only went to meet him at his request(for lunch). Who would think that you would have a lunch date and end up missing, that is what is surprising.
I mentioned a few days ago, one of the linked articles said his girlfriend had hired a lawyer.
Why would she need a lawyer four days after Amanda went missing?

Why aren't the authorities asking for volunteers to help search for her? I haven't seen anything about that aspect.

Are they saying she was with Westfall that Sunday night, after Jones disappeared? Or are they saying she was with Westfall the night after? meaning Monday night?
Ambiguous wording on the part of the reporter.
When she was missing less than 48hrs, I asked a friend if he had heard about the situation. His response was "I feel like we should be helping search."
As far as I have heard, no one is asking for that type of assistance.

My read is that they mean Sunday night. She could then comment on his state-of-mind and whereabouts.
Here's what I'm confused about...and maybe someone who is not TV-impaired (we don't watch it) can help me:
I've read differing accounts regarding what time Bryan and Amanda parted company that Sunday afternoon at the civic club/horseshow grounds.
1. One said they met up at 1pm, talked for about an hour, and then he left, with her sitting in her car on her cell phone. That would make the departure TWO pm.
2. Other accounts say he was the last person to see her, and that it was at FIVE pm, again she was supposedly talking on her phone when he left her at the civic club.
And: then I've heard they were supposed to go to a restaurant (a fish place called "Off the Hook") for lunch. Did they ever go??? Did anyone see them there??
I've apparently missed this part of the coverage.
Top story at KSDK.com....LE has now searched Bryan Westfall's property. Some items were removed for lab analysis...he and his girlfriend are persons of interest.
