What are grits I often hear them mentioned I have always assumed they are some sort of cereal or oatmeal am I right?

Hi Snugs. Grits are made when you take crack dried corn and turn the kernels into coarse meal or fine flour.

In Europe grits are called polenta, the difference being polenta is made from yellow corn and grits are made from white corn.
