"But No. 1 is Googles blogger, with 12.6 million visitors. That was nearly double No. 2 Xangas 6.9 million.Filling out the top five were two Six Apart products, Live Journal at No. 3 and TypePad at No. 4, with 5.4 million and 4.6 million, respectively.
The lower half of the top 10 was filled by individual and group blogs, rather than blog hosts. They were The Drudge Report, The Smoking Gun, Free Republic, The Huffington Post, and Fark.'
"
I've never heard of some of these blogs, are they lib websites? I see they left out the number figures on Drudge, TSG and FR! hmmmm

I didn't know that Free Republic is a "group blog". We started out as a "forun" and for me nothing's changed. We are still a forum.
To me there is a clear distinction between a fancy vanity (blog) and a place for discussion of ideas we may not even choose, but nevertheless challenge us.
Of course, I don't like even the word "blog", so I hope I can be remain objective about it.

What are the Huffington Post and Fark?
I'm not just saying this to be snide - I've just never heard of them, looking for a little education.

The way the media is always quoting dailykos and gawker I thought they would have many more hits. I can't believe Huffington Post can get many readers. It's a bunch of narcissistic, elitists writing to each other thinking they are brilliant. I read that the creative coalition is giving Huffington their big award for 2005.
