Make sure you register all your firearms with the State.

"These laws are on the books not to restrict the rights of law-abiding people to own a gun..."

When a government official starts issuing statements like this, interpretation is very simple: the truth is the exact opposite of what is being said.

However, even guns passed down because of the death of a family member must be re-registered by the new owner. At least this is a little better than the laws in New York. If no family survivors have a pistol permit, the family has 10 days to turn the weapons over to the local police department for safe keeping until a pistol permit can be gotten.

When will criminal charges be lodged against those conducting gun buy-ups? Those are transfers without background checks. Lots and lots of them! Oh, that's right, the laws don't apply to the police.

"Gun owners beware: law enforcement officials want Los Angeles gun users to know that they can be arrested for giving or selling a gun to someone without a legal background check..."

...but reminded citizens that long-term leases of guns, like cars and real-estate, still require no state background check.

In a few years (or sooner) no one in California will be allowed to own a firearm.

And of course when that happens the gang-bangers and other criminals will obey the law!
