I must be mad. I find my wife to be the most attractive woman on the planet! She looks different now after 10 years of marriage. But I think every new dimple and sag is just as attractive as any of her other features.

As I get older, I've also found it so much easier to find beauty in many more women than I ever could. Perhaps I focus more on the "perfections" than the "imperfections"? Perhaps that's why the missus still takes my breath away.

I just wish she'd believe me when I tell her!

Regards,

Jim

Eating disorders are not a reaction to seeing, or being surrounded by, heavy, obese people. EDs are a control issue. The world they live in (parents, jobs, school) can't be controlled to attain 'perfect' results. But they (the ED patient) can control their food intake to make themselves perfect (in their own eyes). But perfection is never attainable, but if they just lose another five pounds...things will be better (with their parents, their finances, their grades, their boyfriends, etc.)

The reason why colleges try to educate about the risks of EDs is due to the serious, short term, consequences of rapid weight loss...heart failure, kidney failure, severe dehydration. Though overeating and the subsequent obesity do infact cause health problems, it is the immediacy of the ED that needs to be addressed.

Look at the background. On average, these women are just right.

By todays standards, Marilyn Monroe would be a fat cow but, boy oh boy, she sure wasn't back in the 50s when I was a teenager.

In fact wore a size 14.

Today's average size model is a 2. In the past several years a size 0 (yes, zero) has been added.

A bit of an urban legend, that. There's no doubt Marilyn wasn't rail-thin, but sizes can and have changed since her day. One website even says according to MM's dimensions, she'd fit into a contemporary size 4.

I would not call her overweight by any means but she is too large for my tastes. I can say that when she is not in front of me, if she was anywhere near me I would be howling like a dog I'm sure. I like women in the Uma Thurman range is the best way to describe what I'm trying to convey. Post #212 is right on the money aswell.

Now if you appreciate it when your husband tells you that and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, I need to get you in touch with my wife!!!

I know that some men don't hold a real high position in their life of their wives. It's easy to get pushed to the bottom of the list because we're relatively "self sustaining" compared to the kids, cat, laundry, meals, dishes, vacuum, mop, toys, and litter box. It's not that they don't love us. We just get sidelined.

So whatever you do, make sure you appreciate those compliments! Think about them. Respond to them. It'll make hubby a little happier!

Regards,

Jim

I admire your honesty, and am glad to know that you are doing well.

My daughter will be a junior in college this fall...she is an RA. Last fall, a girl on her floor OD'd on laxatives. She had been abusing then for a couple of years. The profound dehydration caused a cardiac event. She was 18 or 19 and damaged her heart for life due to her ED. This is very serious stuff. Not a cosmetic issue as some would want to make it out to be.

In fact wore a size 14

They have some of her dresses in the Smithsonian. They don't look like what would be a 14 today.

I've heard that dress sizes have gotten bigger as Americans have expanded. A 14 in the 1950's might be a 10 today.

That is so weird. For some reason there's something sexy about him although he certainly doesn't fit the "standard" of tall, dark, handsome, being (don't know how tall), balding blond, and wearing glasses. Maybe it's his voice.....interesting, but there's definitely an attraction there.
